Typically a technician is physically present to investigate a malfunction of an elevator system. Devices, systems and methods are provided for actively monitoring one or more lift devices, such as elevators and escalators. A computing system for electrically controlling an elevator controller, includes: a field board electrically connected to an elevator controller, and the field board communicates with a computing platform device, which in turn is connected to a server over the Internet. The field board includes relay switches that are electrically connected to the elevator controller. The server sends poking commands that triggers a relay switch to open or close, which causes the elevator controller to generate a call signal to move the elevator to an upper or a lower floor. If the elevator does not move according to a poking command, then a malfunction is reported.

Systems and methods for actively monitoring and controlling lift devices

A data exchange system that exchanges data with a host device comprising controller and a host housing comprises at least one button assembly and a button reader system. The at least one button assembly comprises an encoder for storing data, a button coil, and a switch. Closing the switch forms an antenna circuit. The button reader system comprises a decoder and at least one reader coil defining at least one button position on the host housing. When the at least one button assembly is arranged at the at least one button position, the controller of the host device causes the decoder to obtain data from the encoder through the button coil and the reader coil when the switch is closed.

Data exchange systems and methods employing RF data transmission

A system for generating number tones for dialing a telephone device comprising a microphone. The system comprises a housing, a first data entry device, first and second memory devices, an output signal generator, and a transducer. The housing defines a sound opening. The first data entry device is supported by the housing and is associated with a first sequence of stored digits. The first memory device stores the first sequence of stored digits. The second memory device stores frequency data associated with number tones. The output signal generator generates, upon activation of the first data entry device, an output signal based on the first sequence of stored digits and the frequency data. The transducer is mounted within the housing adjacent to the sound opening and converts the output signal into an audible signal. The housing is adapted to be attached to the telephone device with the sound opening adjacent to the microphone.
