In order to detect and remove interfering particles, particularly trash particles, husk naps, seed remnants and the like, from textile fiber goods, a device on a carding machine, a cleaner or the like is provided across the width of the carding machine, cleaner or the like with at least one detection device, for example, a camera with an electronic evaluation device for the detection, and a downstream-connected separating device for removing the particles. A plurality of guide elements are provided across the width, which can selectively deflect the fiber goods regions containing the interfering particles to improve the effect of the separating device in a simple manner.

A coiler plate is provided for sliver coil depositing. The coiler plate has a rotational axis, a spatially curved sliver channel having a wall, an inside wall surface, a sliver inlet, a sliver outlet, and a plurality of air inlets in the sliver channel wall for introducing air into the sliver channel. The sliver inlet is arranged substantially coaxial with the rotational axis, and the sliver outlet is arranged at a radial distance and an axial distance from the sliver inlet. The sliver is subject to a tensioning draft, and the air introduced into the sliver channel is for acting on the sliver to reduce a frictional force between the sliver and the inside wall surface of the sliver channel.

An apparatus for lengthening, to a determined extent, a free sliver end portion hanging on an exterior face and from an upper edge of a can containing sliver deposited in coils, includes a device for grasping and firmly holding the free sliver end portion; and an arrangement for moving the grasping device and the can away from one another for pulling an additional length of sliver from the can to lengthen the free sliver end portion.

A fiber processing machine includes a rotary roll provided with a peripheral clothing; a counter element having a part cooperating with the roll clothing; a sensor stationary relative to the counter element and having a sensing portion facing said roll clothing; and an arrangement for generating a signal representing a distance between the sensing portion and the roll clothing. The distance represents a spacing between the roll clothing and the counter element part.

A sliver supplying apparatus for simultaneously feeding a plurality of slivers to a draw frame includes an intake table; a plurality of supply rolls supported in a series by the intake table for guiding the slivers from the coiler cans to the draw frame; and an rpm-setting device for individually setting a circumferential speed of the supply rolls. The rpm-setting device includes a roll drive independent from the drive of the draw frame.

A carding machine includes a main carding cylinder, a travelling flats assembly having a plurality of flat bars provided with a clothing cooperating with the clothing of the main carding cylinder; an endless flat bar driving element trained about end sprockets and circulating the flat bars in an endless path; a flat cleaning device supported at a location above the flat bar driving element and including a rotatably supported flat brush roller. A shifting device is provided for raising the flat bar driving element and the flat bars situated at the location towards the flat brush roller for establishing a contacting relationship between the flat brush roller and the clothing of the respective flat bars and for lowering the flat bar driving element and the flat bars situated at the location away from the flat brush roller for discontinuing a contacting relationship between the flat brush roller and the clothing of the respective flat bars.
