Coin detector may be manufactured in several steps. An integrated circuit board (ICB) having conductive material on its surface is covered with an etching mask where conductive elements are to be located. The unmasked portion of the ICB surface is etched off, and then the etching mask is removed. The ICB substrate is attached with a detector circuit located on an etched portion of the ICB surface. An oscillator circuit is connected to a conductive coil. If the coin detector uses a two-layer coil, the coils are connected by a through-going board. The structure is encased in a synthetic material.

Method of manufacturing a coin detector

An inductive coin detector to recognize the presence of coins (2) in a coin channel (1) uses a high-frequency alternating magnetic field. The detector is equipped with a flat coil (3) located outside the coin channel (1). A high-frequency alternating magnetic field produced by the rail (3) penetrates the coin channel (1) at a right angle to the coin movement direction (13). The coil (3) consists at least of a flat helicoidal conductor arrangement and is part of the LC oscillator. The oscillator circuit, together with a measuring circuit, constitutes a detector circuit (4) for the recognition of a change in oscillator frequency caused by the presence of the coin (2). The coil (3) and the detector circuit (4) are located on a common support in immediate proximity of each other and can be enclosed in a flat housing. The coin detector can be connected by means of a three-strand line comprising a feeder (7) and a signalling line (9).

The instant invention is a magnetic field sensor intermittently shielded by a controllable, saturable, magnetic shield. The magnetic shield is periodically driven into saturation by means of an excitation coil. The magnetic field to be measured is not disturbed by the shield during those time intervals when the shield is saturated. Intermittent sensing of the magnetic field to be measured, by the intermittently shielded magnetic field sensor, yields a magnetic field measurement unaffected by l/f noise and offset errors.

A measuring transformer comprises a ferromagnetic core having a central branch. The central branch comprises at least one unit that is surrounded in part by an electrical conductor in the form of a U. Each unit of the central branch of the core has two outer air gaps and one or more central air gaps. Illustratively, the transformer comprises a three legged ferromagnetic core whose center leg at least partially surrounded by the electrical conductor. The two outer gaps are longer than the center gap when measured in the longitudinal direction of the center leg. The center leg and the magnetic sensor may form a single construction element. The present invention is an arrangement for measuring electrical power. The arrangement comprises a conductor traversed by an electrical current i and a voltage-to-current converter for transforming an electrical voltage u.sub.N into a proportional supply current i.sub.N for a Hall element. The Hall element is adapted to produce an intelligence containing output signal .+-.u.sub.H proportional to the product (.+-.i.u.sub.N) of the current i and the voltage .+-.u.sub.N. The Hall element is arranged in an air-gap of a ferromagnetic core that is excited by the current i. A voltage-to-frequency converter transforms the Hall element output voltage .+-.u.sub.H into a proportional output frequency. The voltage-to-frequency converter includes a capacitor for integration purposes and at least two signal sources. The power measuring device also includes a switch for periodically switching a signal proportional to the signal .+-.u.sub.H and for switching said signal sources to compensate for an offset voltage. Use of the arrangement permits an improvement in the ratio of the intelligence containing signal to an interference signal, which interference signal includes for example an offset voltage.
