An eye surgery system includes an operating microscope having at least one camera, a data memory, a pattern generator, and a display apparatus. The operating microscope presents a microscope image of an eye, and the at least one camera records a camera image of the eye. The data memory stores data that represent at least one predetermined position, relative to the eye, of a trocar to be inserted into the eye. The pattern generator generates a pattern representing the predetermined position of the trocar on the basis of the data stored in the data memory and the camera image recorded by the camera, and the display apparatus overlays the pattern produced by the pattern generator on the microscope image of the eye.

Eye surgery system and method for preparing interventions within the scope of eye operations

A method for improving an OCT image of an object such as the retina of an eye, using optical coherence tomography by an imaging beam path. In order to suppress shadowing effects due to a surgical instrument moved in the imaging beam path, a time series of OCT images is produced. For an OCT image to be corrected, an area of the object lying in the image and shadowed by the instrument is determined. Another earlier OCT image in which the area of the object is not shadowed is searched in the time series. Image information for the area of the object is read from the earlier OCT image. A corrected OCT image is produced by inserting the read-image information into the OCT image to be corrected, wherein in the OCT image to be corrected, the image information replaces the area of the object which is shadowed by the instrument.

Method for correcting an OCT image and combination microscope

An ophthalmologic system comprising and eye tracker and an OCT system. A method of operating the ophthalmologic system comprises: providing data representing a placement of a first B-scan performed on an eye relative to the eye; performing a measurement on the eye using the eye tracker; determining a placement of the eye relative to the ophthalmologic system based on the measurement using the eye tracker; placing the eye relative to a reference placement of the OCT system based on the provided data and the determined placement; performing A-scans on the eye at at least three A-scan positions; determining a placement of a second B-scan relative to the OCT system based on at least one of the at least three A-scans and the provided data such that the second B-scan and the first B-scan have a substantially same placement relative to the eye; and generating a representation of the second B-scan.

Ophthalmologic system and method of operating the same

An eye surgery apparatus has imaging optics for generating an observation image of a patient eye. A device determines the azimuthal orientation of the patient eye with respect to a reference which is fixed with respect to the patient eye. The device includes a display unit for simultaneously displaying a section of an observation image of the eye and a reference image thereof. An input interface permits an observer to move the displayed section of the observation image relative to the displayed section of the reference image. A measuring system determines the azimuthal orientation of the observation image and reference image. A computer program calculates the center of the limbus of the observation image and reference image. The display unit displays the pixels of the observation image of the patient eye with polar coordinates. The pixels of the reference image of the patient eye are displayed with polar coordinates.

Method for determining the azimuthal orientation of a patient eye and eye surgical apparatus therefor

A method determines the position and/or radius of the limbus and/or the position and/or radius of the pupil of a patient eye. In the method, an image of the patient eye is obtained and a plurality of different ring-shaped comparison objects having respective radii and respective centers are provided. The image is correlated with the plurality of comparison objects to yield a local best match between the image and the comparison objects when there is a coincidence of one of the ring-shaped comparison objects and a ring-shaped jump in brightness in the image having the same radius and the same center. The comparison objects having a local best match with the image are determined. Thereafter, the position of the center of the comparison object having a local best match with the image is selected as the position of the center of the limbus and/or the position of the center of the pupil.

Ophthalmologic visualization system

A method for carrying out eye surgery comprises a comparison of images recorded before surgery with images recorded during surgery in order to generate a marker which represents a target orientation of an intraocular lens or a difference between a current orientation and the target orientation of the intraocular lens. An eye surgery system respectively comprises an imaging system which is used during a surgery and has a camera, and a diagnostic system which is used before surgery and which also has a camera. The imaging system used during surgery comprises an image processing device in order to perform a computation based on the recorded images, and in order to determine a respective orientation value, from which a representation of a marker representing the target orientation of the intraocular lens is obtained.

Eye surgery system and methods of preparing and performing an eye surgery

Microscopy system for eye surgery

The invention relates to an image-processing method for automated contrast modification of digital image data. At least one low and one high-frequency signal are formed based on the digital image signal of the image data; the low-frequency signal component is modified using a characteristic-curve function; and then the modified, low-frequency signal is again added to the high-frequency signal component. In order to prevent the occurrence of distracting artifacts, so-called 'halos', the formation of the low-frequency signal component to be modified is formed in dependence upon the high-frequency image components.

Image processing method for automated contrast modification of digital image data

A reflected or transmitted light scanner includes an illumination device for illuminating image material, a carrier for holding the image material, and a recording device for recording the light transmitted through the image material and for pixel by pixel conversion of the light into electric signals that can be used to generate original image signals in several colors as well as a defect signal. The reflected or transmitted light scanner further comprises a memory device for storing the image and defect signals, pixel by pixel; a computing device for generating low-pass signals from the image signals; a memory device for storing the low-pass signals, pixel by pixel; and a correction device for selecting between the image signal and the low-pass signal, or a combination of image signal and low-pass signal, for each pixel, in dependence upon the value or the position of the defect signal for the respective pixel.
