A method for designing and/or controlling a filter assembly for the air supply to a turbomachine includes: calculating a current and/or an expected concentration of particles in air present at an inlet of at least one filter stage of the filter assembly as a function of a mean size of the particles; calculating a sensitivity spectrum that, depending on the mean size of the particles, indicates an extent to which a predetermined concentration of such particles has a negative effect on performance and/or on service life of the turbomachine; calculating, for at least one filter candidate usable in the filter stage and/or switchable on or off, a concentration of particles to be expected at an outlet of the filter from a concentration and filter properties of the at least one filter candidate; and calculating a quality rating from the concentration and a sensitivity spectrum.

Design, control and operation of filters for turbomachines

The invention relates to a cartridge filter for purifying gases, said filter being especially embodied as a filter for fine or suspended matter. The inventive filter comprises a frame into which at least one folded package which consists of a filter material through which gas flows is introduced. The end pieces of the strips of frames are interconnected by corner connectors. said frame strips (1) consists of at least two individual elements (2,3) which are oriented perpendicularly to the direction of flow, engage with each other in a positively locking manner, and/ or can be interconnected.

Cartridge filter for purifying gas

A filter system includes several filters, particularly a main filter and at least one prefilter, which are disposed one after another and are made of a filter material that is encompassed by frames. The sides of the frame of the main filter and the frame/s of the prefilter/s, which face each other, include connecting elements. The individual filters can be coupled to each other in a form-fitting manner.

Filter system

A cassette filter comprising a frame and a pleated filter material that is inserted therein, in addition to a protective grid having passage holes. The protective grid is fastened at a distance from the filter material in the frame and has a flow resistance that is smaller than that of the pleated filter material. The protective grid includes at least one film strip that is bent around the passage holes, said film strip extending parallel relative to the direction of flow of the medium to be filtered, and in that the protective grid recurrently contacts at least one other identically bent film strip outside the passage holes in contact points and is glued to said other film strip in the contact points.

Cassette filter

A cartridge filter having a cylindrical filter element, which is pleated parallel to its axis and is made of a layered non-woven unitary fabric. The fabric is permeable by air flow in the radial direction and is used in fresh air-supply filtration with initial pressure losses of less than 300 Pa at air flow rates through the filter medium of less than 250 m.sup.3 /m.sup.2 h. The non-woven fabric has a mass per unit area of 100 to 500 g/m.sup.2, and a thickness of 1.5-7.0 mm mm. It is made of layered staple fibers of a titer of 0.1 to 50 decitex, which are bonded by a thermally softened binding agent. A bottom layer bordering on the downstream side is contained in the non-woven fabric, having a thickness of 10 to 60% of the overall thickness, and is compressed two to ten times as much as a top layer bordering on the upstream flow side having a thickness of 10-60% of the overall thickness. One or more intermediate layers link the top and bottom layers to one another. The fabric is unitary in structure, in that it is not a composite formed of separate layers which must be subsequently joined together.

Cartridge filter

A filter cartridge has a frame made of tough material, which sealingly surrounds an accordion fold pack on its circumferential side. The frame is made of assemblable, plate-shaped frame elements and has, on the circumferential side along the lower and/or upper edge of the frame, a tongue, the tongue being insertable in a latticed holder having a U-shaped profile. A viscous joining compound is used to affix the tongue in place. The tongue is formed by strip-shaped tongue elements, each tongue element being joined to a frame element, wherein the adjacent ends of the tongue elements are sealingly fastened to each other by connecting corner pieces.
