A method of extending the functionality of an enterprise software suite is disclosed. A request is received from a client system to modify a programming object on a productive system deployed in the cloud environment. A logical unit of programming objects is identified on the productive system, the logical unit including the programming object. Copies of each of the programming objects in the logical unit of programming objects are created in a sandbox of a combined development and test system deployed in the cloud environment, the copies including a copy of the programming object. The copy of the programming object is modified in the sandbox. A result of the modifying of the copy of the programming object in the sandbox is communicated for presentation in a client system without modifying the programming object on the productive system.

Sandboxing for custom logic

A system stores financial accounting data in a Base ledger, together with overlying extension ledger(s). An engine receives both generic financial data, and financial data utilized for specific purposes. Utilizing a mapping table the engine stores in an underlying Base ledger, the generic financial data (e.g., a fixed asset acquisition). The engine stores in overlying extension ledgers, specific financial data (e.g., a linear asset depreciation and/or an declining balance method of asset depreciation) derived from that generic data. This reduces memory footprint by persisting the generic data in one location only. The stored data may be read utilizing dataviews combining data from Base and extension ledgers. A recursive algorithm may evaluate chain(s) of ledgers. Embodiments may be particularly suited to store in the Base ledger generic financial data common to multiple accounting principles (e.g., GAAP, IFRS), and store in extension ledger(s) the associated financial data specific to those accounting schemes.

Extension ledger

Analytical functions to be applied to business intelligence data may be sequentially selected from a set of chips, each corresponding to a different function. A function associated with a selected chip may be applied to the business intelligence data and the selected chip may be added to an analysis path with other selected chips in a sequential order of selection. A result, which may include at least two selectable data points, may be displayed. Once a data point selection is made, the selection may be used to limit the functions associated with subsequently displayed chips to the selected data points. The chips listed in the analysis path may be used to change prior data point selections, the changes of which may be automatically propagated to any subsequently selected chips as indicated in the analysis path.

Solution-specific business object view

A search middleware may be used to receive search requests regarding a software incident associated with a software application. The search requests may be populated with attribute values determined based on context data associated with the software application and collected in association with the software incident. The search requests may be dispatched to a subset of a plurality of solution repositories, even if the solution repositories have different interfaces and/or search technologies. The resulting solution documents retrieved from the solution repositories may be compiled for presentation on a solution search interface.

This disclosure describes software for supporting an application. In one aspect, software for supporting a business application receives error and dynamic context information from a remote business application in response to an incident. The dynamic context information at least partially identifies one or more business objects (BOs) associated with the incident. The software is further operable to clone at least one of the BOs associated with the incident. The software can then start a transaction simulating the incident. Conversely, the business application (or other supported software) can transmit error and dynamic context information to support software related to an incident within having a particular execution environment. In response to an automated request from the support software executing a simulated transaction simulating the incident, the supported software communicates a clone of one of the associated BOs to the support software. Alternatively, the software re-directs service calls instead of cloning BOs.

Incident simulation support environment and business objects associated with the incident

This disclosure provides various embodiments of software for supporting a business application. In one aspect, the software receives error information and dynamic context information from a remote business application, where the dynamic context information may partially identify the particular execution point of the business application and a portion of the business data associated with that execution point, present a search interface to a support user utilizing search criteria that is automatically populated using the received information, and, upon request of the support user, generates an execution environment that simulates the remote business application execution using the received information. In some implementations, the software is farther operable to retrieve static context information related to the remote business application from a static context information repository. In those instances, the execution environment for the support user may be generated using at least a portion of the retrieved static context information.

The disclosure provides integrated software for supporting a distributed business application comprising computer readable instructions embodied on media. The integrated support software is operable to automatically monitor the distributed business application for potential incidents. It also facilitates continuous data exchange between the distributed business application and a remote support module based on the automatic monitoring, with the communications in a protocol associated with a plurality of services in the distributed business application and with a plurality of incidents for these services. Upon identification of a potential incident, the software provides integrated incident management in the distributed business application and provides software maintenance management to the distributed business application for one or more identified incidents.

A health check monitoring process embedded in a client system provides automation of monitoring processes of system and application components and creates and pushes incidents and/or administration tasks to a user or user interface if a critical situation or event, such as a monitored status of a component exceeds a predetermined threshold value or state, is detected. The creation of an incident includes automatically collecting context data associated with the event, generating a incident report associated with the collected diagnostic data and generating an incident service request based on the incident report. The context data may include technical and application information that is usually required to resolve the incident. The user interface includes various views depicting different levels of information related to the service request, such as an incident work list, details of a particular incident and details of the context data associated with an incident.
