A bone distractor device and method of bone distraction in osteogenesis, the bone distractor having releasable bone plates, created using computer-aided design to conform to the surface of a bone, attached to a distraction mechanism, wherein the distractor device is affixed to the bone, the distraction mechanism is removed from the bone plates, the osteotomy is performed using a guide edge provided on at least one of the bone plates, and the distraction mechanism is re-attached to the bone plates such that distraction can be initiated.

Customized bone distraction method, device and system

A bone distraction device having a ratchet and pawl assembly such that incremental rotation is allowed in one direction and prevented in the other, and further having a quick release mechanism such that the ratchet and pawl mechanism can be released to allow free rotation in both directions. The device has a pawl housing mounted onto a rod housing, the pawl housing having a sloping transition shoulder diminishing to transition onto the outer surface of the rod housing. In other embodiments, the device has a sleeve housing with an enlarged end telescopically mounted onto a rod housing, the enlarged end having a sloping transition shoulder diminishing to transition onto the outer surface of the sleeve housing.

Bone distraction device having a quick release disengagement mechanism

A maxillofacial orthognathic fixation implant assembly and its method of production and use, the implant being an assembly of an upper anchor implant member, a lower anchor implant member and at least one bridging implant member, the anchor implant members being adapted to be securely mounted to a maxilla and the at least one bridging implant member being adapted to connect the upper anchor implant member to the lower anchor implant member in a fixed and rigid manner. With the anchor implant members affixed to the maxilla and the maxilla surgically separated between the upper and lower anchor implant members to create a lower portion detached an upper portion, the at least one bridging implant member is connected between the upper and lower anchor implant members to secure and maintain the lower portion of the maxilla in a desired post-operative position relative to the upper portion of the maxilla.

Orthognathic implant assembly and method of use

A bone plate locking cannula and drill guide assembly having a locking cannula detachably mountable onto screw-receiving apertures of a bone plate and a drill guide received within the locking cannula such that pilot holes are drilled through the apertures into bone at the proper angle to receive bone screws. The screw receiving apertures have a proximal bore of greater diameter than a distal bore, and the proximal bore is provided with internal threading to mate with external threading located on the distal end of the locking cannula. The bone screws are inserted through the locking cannula after removal of the drill guide and fastened into the bone to secure the bone plate in position without having to remove the locking cannulas from the bone plate, the internal diameter of the locking cannula bore being greater than the maximum diameter of the screw heads. The locking cannula is detached from the bone plate after the bone plate has been secured in place on the bone.

A spring-biased nasal molding device for presurgical molding of cleft lip deformities, the device having a pair of intra-nasal shaping members for insertion into the nostrils and having an extra-nasal shaping member to be positioned external to the nostrils connected to each intra-nasal shaping member, wherein the intra-nasal and extra-nasal shaping members are brought together by the spring member to mold the nasal anatomy into the desired shape.

A force adjustable spring distractor device having an elongated, relatively thin guide plate, a force adjusting rod member having first and second oppositely threaded portions, first and second anchor bodies mounted on the guide plate and the threaded portions of the rod, first and second distractor bodies mounted on the guide plate and the rod, and first and second distraction springs connecting the anchor bodies to the distractor bodies, whereby rotation of the force adjusting rod results in separation of the anchor bodies and elongation of the distraction springs, thereby imparting a separation force to the distractor bodies.

Each of the cranial plates is mounted to the distraction mechanism with a ball and socket connector assembly, such that each of the plates can move in multiple directions and orientations relative to the distraction mechanism to better accommodate a convex, planar or concave surface topography presented during the distraction procedure.

A sizable sternal closure clamp device for securing and retaining longitudinally or transversely divided halves of a sternum, the device having four body members and four engagement members that are positioned in inter-rib spaces on both sides of the sternum. The body members are interconnected in a sliding or telescoping manner that allows the device to be expanded or contracted in two orthogonal directions.

Bone distractor apparatus

A bone distractor having four bone plate attachment members for affixation to the posterior and anterior maxilla and/or zygomatic buttress and to the posterior and anterior mandible, the attachment members mounted onto a pair of parallel rods, one rod being a threaded drive rod and the other being a releasable guide rod, whereby rotation of the drive rod causes dimensional separation of the anterior attachment members from the posterior attachment members. The guide rod can be quickly removed such the superior attachment members joined to the maxilla and/or zygomatic buttress are physically separated from the inferior attachment members joined to the mandible such that the jaw can be opened.
