The function of this invention is to provide exercisers with a safe and easy way to convert a legs-only exercising device, such as a stationary trainer or bicycle, with the capacity to exercise their upper and lower body muscle groups simultaneously or separately. This invention is portable and can be moved easily from one legs-only exercising device to another. Once they are mounted onto the handlebar or attachment bar of the legs-only device, it is now a full-body trainer. Exercisers mount the trainer, place their feet on the cycling pedals, place their elbows onto the elbow holders, grasp the hand grips, and now start their full body exercising activity. The degree of difficulty of their exercise trek is easily accommodated by allowing the rider to adjust the resistance for moving the forearm bars up and down for an upright bike, or back and forth for a recumbent trainer.

Exercise system

A system and method for optimizing a person's muscle group performance thru modulating the arm, leg, and core muscle exertion rate based upon the exerciser's metabolic and geographic data. The system uses real-time measurement gathering and storing of physiologic parameters from humans during physical exercise activity and the geographic data of the exercise activity to determine information for optimizing the exerciser's physical exercise performance of the basic working muscle groups in the rider's arms, legs, and core. The system broadcasts to exercisers information including, but are not limited to: a) the current condition of their monitored muscle tissue, b) which muscle groups the riders should modulate and change their level of energy output during the exercise activity, and c) level of energy exertion at which riders should be employing at that moment in the relevant working muscle groups to optimize their physical exercise performance.

Tri-Power Exercising device allows a rider to simultaneously, or on demand, exercise virtually all muscle groups in his lower and upper body. The device includes a bicycle frame, pedals, forearm bars, sliding seat, computer and electronic display recommending energy modulation amounts from various muscle groups to optimize physical performance on any given trek. Because riders can exercise virtually all muscle groups at once, they reduce their exercising time, continuously builds muscle tissue throughout their whole body, and exercises their cardiovascular and respiratory systems completely. Riders operate the device by rotating legs on the pedals, rotationally oscillating the forearm bars up and down with their arms and shoulders, and then use core muscles to pull and push the seat back and forth on the slider. Inverted racks, pinion gears, and one-way bearings turn this linear power from the oscillating forearm bars and sliding seat into torque that rotates the crank axle.

Tri-power exercising device

A dual powered propulsion system for use with a human powered vehicle is provided. The system includes a connecting rod with a front end operatively coupled to yoke-connected forearm bars. The system also includes a splitter coupled to a rear end of the connecting rod, wherein the splitter is coupled to a first rack and a second rack that operate with a first and second pinion gear to turn a crank axle. This system supplies rotational power to the crank axle in a single rotational direction as the connecting rod is oscillated up and down and back and forth. Even though a solid connecting rod is used to transfer power from the oscillating forearm bars to the crank axle, the vehicle is steerable to the right or left as a result of the use of a carriage, on rollers, and a turning track operatively connected to the forearm bars.

Bicycle dual power turning track, rack, pinion, and one-way bearing propulsion system

The present invention relates to a rider's simultaneous use of his forearms/hands and legs to provide dual power into a propulsion system for riding a cycle vehicle, including a bicycle and a tricycle, or other vehicles. The invention permits the rider to have complete control turning the cycle vehicle, at will, right or left, while at the same time pumping a set of forearm/hand bars in an up power stroke and a down power stroke. In addition, even though the pumping action is lineally moving a telescoping rod and a push/pull cable back and forth, it is also simultaneously rotating a flywheel, upper and lower sprockets, and the crank axle to drive the bicycle wheel forward over the riding surface. Thus, the rider can provide maximum power into rotating the rear tire by simultaneously using both his arms and legs, while contemporaneously controlling his direction of travel.

Dual powered propulsion system

There is disclosed a novel genus of small peptides, much smaller than human TGF&#x3b1;, was discovered as having TGF&#x3b1; biological activity and therefore are useful as pharmacologic agents for the same indications as full length TGF&#x3b1; polypeptide. There is further disclosed that TGF&#x3b1; and consequently the genus of small peptides disclosed herein, was found to have therapeutic activity to stimulate hematopoiesis in patients undergoing cytotoxic cancer chemotherapy and to act as a cytoprotective agent to protect a patient undergoing cancer cytotoxic therapy from gastrointestinal (GI) side effects, such as mucositis and otherwise support the barrier function of the GI tract when it is harmed by cytotoxic therapy.

Loop peptide and TGF&#x3b1; for stimulating stem cell proliferation and migration

Disclosed are TGF-&#x3b1; polypeptides, related polypeptides, fragments and mimetics thereof useful in stimulating stem cell or precursor cell proliferation, migration and differentiation. The methods of the invention are useful to treat tissue injury as well as expand stem cell populations in, or obtained from, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, urogenital, neurological and cardiovascular tissues. The methods include ex vivo and in vivo applications.

TGF-&#x3b1; polypeptides, functional fragments and methods of use therefor

Disclosed are TGF-&agr; polypeptides, related polypeptides, fragments and mimetics thereof useful in stimulating stem cell or precursor cell proliferation, migration and differentiation. The methods of the invention are useful to treat tissue injury as well as expand stem cell populations in, or obtained from, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, urogenital, neurological and cardiovascular tissues. The methods include ex vivo and in vivo applications.

Disclosed are peptides related to human TGF-&agr;, having TGF-&agr; biological activity, which are useful for many of the indications that full-length TGF-&agr; polypeptide is useful. Also provided are methods of use of such peptides, as well as human TGF-&agr; and biologically related polypeptides.
