An electrical connector assembly 1 for mounting on a printed circuit board, has terminals 17 for interconnecting with traces on the printed circuit board. The assembly 1 comprises a housing 4 with a mounting face 8 and a mating face 7 perpendicular to the mounting face 8. The housing has contact receiving passages 9, which extend rearward from the mating face 7 to the mounting face 8. Further included is a plurality of receptacle contacts 6 each adapted to be received within respective contact passages 9. Each receptacle contact 6 comprises an electrically conductive shell 12 which is adapted to be received within a respective contact passage 9. The receptacle contact 6 further includes a dielectric insert 11 having center bore 20 and adapted to be received and secured within each of the respective conductive shells 3. Each receptacle contact 6 further includes signal carrying center contact 10 pressed into the bore 20 of the dielectric insert 11. The signal carrying contact 10 comprises a finger-shaped mating section 13 and a compliant clip section 14 with arc shaped solder terminal 17 for interconnection with respective trace on the printed circuit board.

Right angle connector for mounting to printed circuit board

A connector assembly (28) for mounting a daughter board (20) on a mother board (66) and providing electrical connections therebetween. The connector assembly (28) is made up of a housing (74) mounted on the daughter board (20), a plurality of coaxial cable subassemblies (30), a faceplate member (76) and a cover member (78). The cable subassemblies (30) are held in the housing (74) with their two ends in positions corresponding to contact positions on the daughter board (20) and the mother board (66), with the cable subassemblies (30) being arranged to make a right angle turn. The faceplate member (76) includes a shroud portion (102) which surrounds contact assemblies (38) adapted for matingly engaging corresponding contact assemblies in a housing block (70) which is part of connector assembly (68) mounted on the mother board (66). The shroud portion (102) is sized to surround and frictionally engage the housing block (70). The cover member (78 ) of the connector assembly (28) is configured to position and hold the cable subassemblies (30) so as to protect them from rough handling or accidental shunting.

A connector (1) comprises contacts (5,6, 5,6) slidably received within passages (40,40) and cavities (44,44, 49,49) within an insulative body (3), the assembly of which is further received within a shell (2). Upon assembly of the insulative body (3) and shell (2), the insulative body (3) is compressed about the contacts securing the insulative body (3) and contacts within the shell (2).

An electrical connector (1, 2) for twin axial cable (100,100) comprises; a first assembly (4,4) comprised of a conductive outer shell (6,6), a first dielectric body (8,8), a conductive inner shell (10,10), and a second dielectric body (12,12); a second assembly (60,60) for insertion in the outer shell (6,6) and for electrical connection with the inner shell (10,10) comprises a first conductive body (62,62) a conductive ferrule (64,64) on the first conductive body (62,62) for connection with a corresponding electrical conductor (104,104), a third dielectric body (66,66), an electrical contact (70,70) for connection with a corresponding electrical conductor (102,102) of a twin axial cable (100,100), and a second conductive body (72,72) for establishing electrical connection of a conductive sheath (106,106) of a twin axial cable (100,100) and a barrier (108,108) in the outer shell (6,6) for limiting displacement of the conductive sheath (106,106) along the outer shell (6,6).

Electrical connector for an electrical cable

A printed circuit board header for a row of coaxial sockets comprises a dielectric housing having a series of passageways extending therethrough in which coaxial sockets are releasably disposed. Each of the coaxial sockets include an outer contact member, a dielectric member disposed within the outer contact member and a center contact member having a first contact section extending along a longitudinal bore of the dielectric member and a second contact section extending exteriorly of the dielectric member. A contact element of the outer contact member extends exteriorly thereof and also extends parallel with respect to the second contact section so that the second contact sections and the contact elements are matable with respective holes in a printed circuit board. The outer contact members and the respective passageways are provided with securing members securing the coaxial sockets therein. Securing sections are provided on the housing to secure the housing on a printed circuit board in one direction so that the coaxial sockets extend parallel to the printed circuit board or in another direction so that the coaxial sockets are normal to the printed circuit board. This the coaxial socket housing includes latching sections latchably engaging flexible latching members of a coaxial plug housing matable with the coaxial socket housing so that the coaxial plugs are electrically matable with respective coaxial sockets. The matable housings have polarized matable sections and projections extend outwardly from the front surface of the coaxial plug housing protecting forward sections of the coaxial plugs.

A coaxial jack connector for electrical connection to signal and ground conductive paths of a printed circuit board comprises an outer metal body member having a substantially tubular section and a U-shaped section which includes terminal sections for electrical connection with the ground conductive path, a dielectric member having a section disposed along the outer body member, a center contact member is disposed in the dielectric member and has a contact section extending along an axis of the dielectric member and a terminal section extending outside the dielectric member between the terminal sections, an outer contact member extends along an outer surface of the dielectric member and engages the body member between the body member and the dielectric member, and a ferrule member is crimped onto the tubular section securing the outer contact member in the tubular section.
