Described herein is a system that enables a user to filter notable events, representations for which are presented on an interactive timeline associated with a teleconference session or a collaboration environment. The filtering can be implemented based on a type of a notable event and/or based on a specific notable event. The system is also configured to enable a user to search for instances of a type of event and instances of a specific notable event. The system is configured to provide results to the search request that list the teleconference sessions that include the located instances. The user can then select a teleconference session from the results to view an interactive timeline that includes representations of the located instances. Consequently, the system provides a tool that enables a user to efficiently and effectively locate events on an interactive timeline that are desirable (e.g., activity the user wants to view).

Techniques to manage presence information are described. An apparatus may comprise a presence management component operative to manage presence information for a presentity node. The presence management component may comprise a presence normalization module operative to retrieve presence temporal information for a home time zone, and normalize the presence temporal information for a local time zone of the presentity node to form normalized presence temporal information. The presence management component may further comprise a presence control module communicatively coupled to the presence normalization module. The presence control module may be operative to send presence state information from the presentity node to a presence server based on the normalized presence temporal information. Techniques to manage presence information

Techniques for restoring communications sessions for applications having conversation environment and a meeting embodiment are described. A system may include a meeting component of a communications application for selecting a meeting from multiple meetings, a conversation component of the communications application for managing multiple conversation threads, and a recovery component of the communications application for recovering an active meeting from the multiple meetings or an active conversation thread from the multiple conversation threads. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Techniques to restore communications sessions for applications having conversation and meeting environments

A computing device learns over time how to identify task reminders that are most likely to be helpful to a user in different contexts. The task reminders can remind the user of activities that the user needs to do. The computing device displays a graphical user interface (GUI) that contains the task reminders identified as being most likely to be helpful to the user in the user's current context. The computing device updates the task reminders in the GUI as the user's context changes. In this way, the computing device can present task reminders that are likely to be currently helpful to the user while suppressing task reminders that are less likely to be helpful to the user at the current time.

Contextually-appropriate task reminders

The method and system guides a user to easily and effectively communicate with a potential recipient via an integrated communication server. The integrated communication server will track and aggregate user presence information about the potential recipient. The aggregated user presence information includes the current state, activity, and/or availability of the potential recipient. The integrated communication server dynamically analyzes and compares the aggregated user presence information with user preference information of the potential recipient in order to identify an appropriate communication method. The identified appropriate communication method is published to the user indicating that it has a great likelihood of reaching the potential recipient successfully in the right way at the right time.
