This invention provides a processor, especially for use as the central processing unit of a memory tag. The processorhas a minimal footprint in Silicon or other suitable material. It also is driven by the data that it receives. The processor includes a pluralityof registers configured to receive in parallel data that are input to the processor, and to process in parallel the received data, and a micro sequencer and instruction decoder moduleadapted to select two or more of the plurality of registers to receive the data that are input to the processor, and to control the processing of the received data by the end or more selected registers. A memorydevice utilizing such a processor, and a method of processing instructions are also provided.

Central processor for memory tag

A memory tag comprises an array of non-volatile memory, means for inductively obtaining power to enable receipt of data from and transmission of data to a reader device, a processor operable to process received data and to generate data to be transmitted; and a hash co-processor configured to apply a hash function to data applied to it. The array of non-volatile memory includes an area of write only memory. Reader devices for use with such memory tags and methods of using such memory tags are also described.

A method of updating a data entry stored on a data storage unit, the data entry including data elements that are unique to the data storage unit and the data entry, may begin with generating, at the data storage unit, an update request that includes the data entry for transmission to an authority authorized to update the data entry. The authority then extracts extracting at the authority the unique data elements from the update request and verifies the authenticity of the data storage unit and data entry from the unique data elements. The authority then generates an updated data entry including a further data element unique to the updated data entry and derived from the updated data. The authority then transmits the updated data entry to the data storage unit. The method may then include storing the updated data entry on the data storage unit.

Updating data entries stored on a data storage unit from an authority

Methods, systems and machine readable medium storing a machine readable program for managing data stored on a contactless flash memory device are disclosed. A compiled version of a hierarchical data model defined using a high level data structure definition language is provided at a host unit. The host unit is operable to run on a host platform. The compiled version of the hierarchical data model is compiled for the host platform. A first representation of a first hierarchical data structure is received from a contactless flash memory device at the host unit via a contactless communication channel. The first hierarchical data structure is a first instantiation of the hierarchical data model. A second representation of the first hierarchical data structure is generated in accordance with the compiled hierarchical data model at the host unit.

Methods and systems for managing data stored on a contactless flash memory device

A flash memory device is powered via an RF field generated by a host unit. A contactless communication channel is established between the flash memory device and the host unit. A first version of a data file, including a first plurality of data chunks, is downloaded from the flash memory device to the host unit. A second version of the data file, including a second plurality of data chunks, is generated at the host unit. Data chunk modifications to the first plurality of data chunks necessary to generate the second plurality of data chunks are identified at the host unit. The contactless communication channel is reestablished. The identified data chunk modifications to the first plurality of data chunks are performed thereby updating the first version of the data file stored on the flash memory device to the second version of the data file.

System and method of updating a first version of a data file in a contactless flash memory device

A physical object comprises one or more memory circuits adapted to be read wirelessly by a reader device attached to or incorporated within the physical object. Data in the memory circuit is protected from access by an unauthorised reader. Data in the memory circuit is also adapted to identify an authorised bearer of the physical object. Moreover, data in the memory circuit is adapted to allow access to a specified asset or assets by the authorised bearer.
