The present invention provides emulsion copolymers and coating compositions containing the same having improved room temperature and hot block resistance in coatings wherein the copolymers have a broad measured glass transition temperature and are the copolymerization product of a vinyl monomer composition A and a softer vinyl monomer composition B having a Hansch parameter of at least 3.2, and containing one or more vinyl monomer M, such that each of which vinyl monomer(s) M would when homopolymerized provide a homopolymer having a measured Tg of 20&#xb0; C. or less, such as, for example, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate. In addition, the present invention provides methods for making the emulsion copolymers by a powerfeed process comprising feeding vinyl monomer composition A into a reactor from a feed vessel while feeding, simultaneously or after a delay, vinyl monomer composition B into the feed vessel while polymerizing the monomers in the reactor.

Powerfeed polymers having improved block resistance performance

A composition for retaining active ingredients in personal care compositions is described based on one or more polymers having a network structure in an oil phase in amounts from 0.01 to 10% by weight based on the total weight of the composition in the oil phase, the polymers including at least one associative agent, the composition further including at least one active component. The oil phase viscosity of each composition is at least 10 poise under a shear stress up to 1000 dynes/cm.

Composition and process for retaining active ingredients

An aqueous composition comprising at least 18% surfactant and colloidal inorganic clay. This composition is stable with regard to phase separation at 40&#xb0; C. for at least three months and exhibits increased low-shear viscosity relative to a composition without clay. The composition comprises at least one lipophilically-modified copolymer containing acrylic acid residues and C&#x2013;Calkyl (meth)acrylate residues.
