A system includes a processing circuit having a memory coupled to one or more processors, the memory storing instructions therein that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to: receive an estimated exhaust temperature; generate, based on the estimated exhaust temperature, a forecasted exhaust temperature; modify the forecasted exhaust temperature based on a downpipe model to generate a first temperature profile corresponding to a first component of an exhaust aftertreatment system; and generate, based on the first temperature profile, a second temperature profile corresponding to a second component of the exhaust aftertreatment system.

Methods, apparatuses, and systems for managing a multiple, and particularly a dual-selective catalyst reduction (SCR), exhaust aftertreatment system according to one or more determined reductant dosing strategies are disclosed. A method includes: receiving, by a controller, data indicative of a catalyst of an aftertreatment system; determining, by the controller, a reductant dosing strategy based on a comparison of the data indicative of the catalyst to a respective threshold; and commanding, by the controller, an amount of reductant dosing based on the determined reductant dosing strategy.

A system includes a processing circuit having a memory coupled to one or more processors, the memory storing instructions therein that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to: receive engine operational data, the engine operational data indicative of at least one engine operational condition; determine, based on the engine operational data, an estimated exhaust temperature; generate, based on the estimated exhaust temperature and a finite time horizon, a forecasted exhaust temperature; correct the forecasted exhaust temperature based on a downpipe model to generate a first inlet temperature profile corresponding to a first component of the exhaust aftertreatment system; and generate, based on the first inlet temperature profile, a second inlet temperature profile corresponding to a second component of the exhaust aftertreatment system.

An aftertreatment system includes a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, a heater, and a controller that determines a rise in temperature of exhaust gas at an outlet of the heater for a plurality of power levels, predicts a first temperature of the exhaust gas at the outlet of the heater based on the rise in temperature, predicts a second temperature of the exhaust gas at a location of the SCR system based on the first temperature, compares the second temperature for each of the plurality of power levels with a target temperature of the exhaust gas at the inlet of the SCR system, selects one of the plurality of power levels based on the comparison, and adjusts operation of the heater based on the selected one of the plurality of power levels to achieve the target temperature of the exhaust gas at the inlet of the SCR system.

System and method for controlling temperature of exhaust gas at inlet of selective catalytic reduction system

A dosing control system includes a shut-off valve, a reductant pump, a reductant injector, and a recirculation conduit. The shut-off valve is configured to receive reductant from a reductant tank. The reductant pump is configured to selectively receive the reductant from the shut-off valve. The reductant pump is configured to selectively be in a reductant pump command state. The reductant injector is configured to selectively receive the reductant from the reductant pump. The recirculation conduit is coupled to the reductant injector and the reductant tank. The recirculation conduit is configured to selectively provide the reductant from the reductant injector to the reductant tank. The shut-off valve is configured to prevent a flow of the reductant to the reductant pump when the reductant pump is not in the reductant pump command state.

Systems and methods for controlling a shut-off valve of a dosing control system

A shift detecting element originates from an element cavity, a portion of which is defined in one portion of a mold section and another portion of which is defined in another cooperating mold section. The detecting element is cast as an appurtenance to a principal casting and is configured such that it can be easily removed from the principal casting. Misalignment or separation is determined by inspection and/or measurement of the cast shift detecting element.

Method for detecting casting alignment defects

The vacuum column system distills liquid under partial vacuum conditions. The system rigorously splashes and boils liquid in a boiler chamber so as to form vapor and a rising mist from the splashing liquid. The vapor and mist rise in a circularly converging path through a mist collector. The heavier mist strikes the surfaces of the mist collector and deposits on those surfaces, thereby separating itself from the vapor. The vapor is then drawn to a condensor chamber where droplets of treated liquid are sprayed through it and fall into a shallow pool of treated liquid. The droplets seed condensation of the vapor directly onto the droplets. Also, the droplets assist in encapsulating bubbles of vapor in the pool as the droplets fall into the pool. The bubbles are then entrained with other treated liquid of the pool as the treated liquid is drawn from the pool down an entrainment conduit. A vortex action is created at the mouth or entrance port to the entrainment conduit from the pool, and enhances bubble entrainment. A jet stream of treated liquid into the vortex further enhances bubble entrainment into the entrainment conduit. The vapor of the bubbles condenses or dissolves into treated liquid to form more of it as the liquid travels down the entrainment conduit due to the increasing compression on the bubbles as lower levels are reached in the conduit.
