The invention relates to a method for an analysis tool for analysis of the sensor performance of a system of sensors, which method comprises analytical calculation of a sensor system's measurement characteristics at each point in a given geographical area. The method comprises obtaining performance parameters from N sensors that are in the system. The method is characterized in that a set of analytical performance parameters for the system is calculated by the performance parameters being fused irrespective of the different measurement characteristics of the sensors in the system with regard to the given performance parameters and in that the analytical parameters are used in the analysis of the performance of the sensor system. The invention also relates to a device for use of the method and to the use of the method and the device.

Analytical estimation of performance of a sensor system

A method for calculating the range to a moving object by way of a sensor that determines the angle of the object. The sensor and the object move relative to one another, and after one measurement the procedure is as follows: on the assumption that the target maintains a constant velocity, a number of possible target ranges are calculated, as well as areas of uncertainty associated with these ranges, so-called &ldquo;straight trajectory models&rdquo; ( ), on the assumption that the target accelerates, a number of possible target ranges are calculated, as well as areas of uncertainty associated with these ranges, so-called &ldquo;maneuvering models&rdquo; ( ), a number of the straight trajectory models ( ) having a maneuvering model assigned to them.

Finding the range to a moving object by means of an angle-only sensor

Methods of associating a first target track and one of a group of target tracks measured by a radar system, in which the first target track is compared with each of the target tracks in the group of target tracks based on movement between two selected target positions, one in each of the two target tracks. Predetermined maximum numbers of changes in target parameters such as course and speed are assumed to have been able to take place during the movement, and a target parameter for the two positions is allowed to vary while other target parameters are kept constant. A possible range for the varying parameter is determined that is consistent with movement between the two positions, and if a measured value of the varying parameter lies within the range, target tracks are associated with each other.

Method for association

Method which involves determining the position of a number of measured objects by determining a number of directions to the measured objects from at least two measuring stations, of which at least one is mobile, the method being used to decide which of the points of intersection between the directions correspond to measured objects and which ones do not correspond to measured objects. Changes in the mutual movements between the measuring stations and the points of intersection are in this case determined by comparison between the paths in which the points of intersection and the measuring stations are moving. The points of intersection whose movement is not affected by changes in the movement of other points of intersection, or by changes in the movement of at least one measuring station, correspond to positions of measured objects.

Method for position determination

A method for determining the direction to a signal source by cooperation between a first device which determines the direction to the signal source with a low angular accuracy and a second device which determines the direction to the signal source with a high angular accuracy. In a first step, the direction to the signal source is determined within a certain angular range and, through analysis of the signal transmitted from the signal source, the category of the signal source is determined. In a subsequent second step, an angular search for a signal source of said category is performed within the angular range, in which the search is interrupted in the direction in which a signal of the category is detected. In a subsequent third step, the detected signals are correlated with respect to time. When correlation is present, the direction to the signal source is determined by determination of the direction in which the signal source is detected. When correlation is not present, the search is continued until a new signal source of the category is detected, at which time the search is again interrupted and the third step is repeated. An apparatus is also disclosed.

Method and device for determination of direction

A method for determination of positions of measurement objects from a number of measurements of the directions to the measurement objects made at separate points in time. During the initial measurements of the directions to the measurement objects, a number of assumed areas, within which the measurement objects are assumed to be located, are established along the direction to each measurement object. Subsequent measurements of the directions to the measurement objects are performed from at least two different measurement stations, which between the points in time are moved along different paths. In connection with the measurement of the directions to the measurement objects, the positions of the assumed areas are compared with the expected appearances of the measurement objects, and the assumed areas which exhibit the best correlation to the expected appearances of the corresponding measurement object are assumed to represent the positions of the measurement objects.
