A quality check of the photoconductive belt of an electrographic print engine may be performed by writing a toner image on each of the virtual image frames of the loop and printing out those images. The printer user interface may provide a test screen to prompt a user to perform such a quality check. To facilitate the printing of sample receivers for each frame of a printer's film loop a user button is provided at the user interface. When selected, this signals the marking engine to schedule for print an appropriate number of receivers such that each frame on the film belt will be printed on. Each receiver may be a duplicate copy of a particular receiver in the currently printing job.

Method for performing quality checks on a print engine film loop

A method of pre-selecting ordered media in a printing system. Ordered media, such as tabs, are pre-selected into a part for use in a print run and an unwanted part to be discarded. Pre-selecting the ordered media results in a more efficient processing of the print run because the unwanted part of the ordered media is absent and therefore not processed during the print run. Pre-selecting is performed through a user interface on the printing system.

Method and system of pre-selecting ordered media in a printing system

A printing system comprises at least one input source for storing a medium prior to printing or otherwise operating on the medium and a second input source to store at least one set of an ordered media comprising a plurality of sheets having different physical characteristics. A central processing unit stores a graphical representation of the set of ordered media. Upon the occurrence of a jam in the printing system, the central processing unit determines which sheet of the set of ordered media is the correct one to recover to. The central processing unit generates a graphical representation indicating the correct sheet of the set of ordered media to be recovered to and displays the representation on a display for the operator.

A copier or printer apparatus provides printed copies in accordance with instructions provided by respective remote users of the apparatus. The apparatus comprises a marking engine for printing copies of information; a user interface supervisor for controlling interface between users and the marking engine; and a network web server that downloads software to a computer at a remote location to which a remote user has access to provide user interface software for establishing a user operational interface for communicating requirements for a print job to the user interface supervisor for printing by the marking engine. In operation, the web server downloads applets for execution by the computer at the remote location wherein downloaded applets provide a program for the computer at the remote location to process data for a printer interface display screen page for viewing by the remote user.

Establishment at a remote location of an internet/intranet user interface to a copier/printer

An apparatus and method for control of a stepper motor drive for controlling movement of a receiver sheet into transfer relationship with an image-bearing member that supports an image to be transferred to the receiver sheet. Initially, the stepper motor is driven by drive pulses generated in response to clock pulses not synched with movement of the member. However, in order to ensure accurate registration, stepper motor drive pulses are subsequently generated that are in sync with encoder clock pulses that are generated in response to movement of the member. The transition of generation of the drive pulses is determined by establishing a condition of concurrence of a non-synched stepper motor drive pulses with an edge of an encoder pulse. The term condition of concurrence may be established by generating a timing control pulse of relatively short pulsewidth to define an allowed period for determining the condition of concurrence.

Method and apparatus for registering a sheet with an image-bearing member

An automatic loader/unloader for a document feeder capable of feeding individual sheets of a document sheet set stack from a supply tray to an exposure station of a reproduction apparatus, and return such sheets to such supply tray, in a circulating manner along a travel path. The automatic loader/unloader comprises a first transport for transporting document sheets seriatim into the travel path, and a second transport for transporting document sheets seriatim from the travel path. A diverter selectively diverts document sheets into, or out of, the travel path. The diverter is controlled to load document sheets sequentially in the supply tray by directing document sheets transported by the first transport to form a document sheet set stack in the supply tray, or to sequentially unload document sheets from the supply tray by directing document sheets from the travel path to the second transport.
