A nozzle cover for a laser drill includes a mount, a first shell member, and a second shell member. The mount has a first opening centered about a drill axis through which a nozzle can extend. The first shell member extends along the drill axis and has a first end attached to the mount at a first pivot and a second end with a first notch. The second shell member extends along the drill axis and has a first end attached to the mount at a second pivot and a second end with a second notch. The first shell member and the second shell member are configured to pivot between a closed position in which the first shell member and the second shell member form a hollow interior portion coaxial with the drill axis to enclose the nozzle and an open position in which the nozzle is exposed.

A resonant frequency testing system for airfoils comprises a broach block, a clamp, an acoustic speaker, a laser vibrometer, and a control processor assembly. The broach block has a slot disposed to receive the airfoil in an airfoil location. The clamp has a torque-actuated shutoff, and is disposed to lock the airfoil in the broach block slot under a fixed clamping force. The acoustic sensor is disposed adjacent the airfoil location to emit sonic pulses, and the laser vibrometer is oriented towards the airfoil location to sense vibration signatures of the airfoil when excited by the sonic pulses. The control processor assembly is configured to control the acoustic speaker and laser vibrometer, to decompose the sensed vibration signatures into resonant frequencies of the airfoil, and to store the resonant frequencies in a digital storage database, correlated with a unique ID corresponding to the airfoil.

Airfoil resonant frequency testing

An apparatus and method for machining apertures into a conductive workpiece is disclosed. The apparatus has a tank capable of holding a dielectric fluid, and a fixture for holding the workpiece in the tank. An electric discharge machine with an electrode, a power supply connected to the electrode that produces machining pulses for electric discharge machining through the workpiece, and a controller for regulating the power supply and electrode position is also part of the apparatus. Finally, the apparatus has a pressure transducer connected to the fixture, and a process controller in communication with the electric discharge machine controller and pressure transducer.

A system for airflow testing a turbine engine component having multiple cavities has a test fixture with a module for supporting a turbine engine component to be tested and a sliding element for sequentially allowing a pressurized fluid to flow through each of the multiple cavities in the turbine engine component. An automated method and apparatus for electrode discharge machining wherein method includes moving the tool holder to the electrode loader, automatically mounting an electrode into the tool holder and then testing the electrode for conformance to geometric and dimension tolerances and testing the electrode for proper alignment in the tool holder and thus proper alignment relative to the workpiece just prior to moving the tool holder to the workpiece area for machining. The apparatus includes a moveable servomechanism with a tool holder, an electrode magazine, and a sensor module for testing an electrode mounted in the tool holder. The sensor module has a recess configuration of conductive material complimentary to the electrode such that the electrode will make contact with the conductive material when inserted into the sensor module if the electrode is out of tolerance or misaligned in the tool holder.

Method and apparatus for testing electrodes in an EDM process

A process and apparatus for selectively electroplating the tip portion of an airfoil. The airfoil includes a root portion and a blade portion having a tip. At least part of the blade including the tip is coated with an insulating material. Insulating material is removed from the tip and the airfoil is mounted in a fixture so that the tip is exposed. The fixture is immersed in a sealing bath, and the fixture and at least a portion of the airfoil is encased in sealing material while leaving the tip exposed. The fixture is then immersed in an electroplating bath, the exposed tip is electroplated, and the fixture is removed from the bath. The fixture includes an elongated base member and a grip element supported on the base member. The grip element is made of a flexible material and has a plurality of slots configured for receiving the root portion of the airfoils. An electrical contact is provided in each slot so as to contact the root portion of the airfoil. A plurality of fixture may be mounted on a carousel.

Apparatus for selectively electroplating an airfoil

A process and apparatus for selectively electroplating the tip portion of an airfoil. The airfoil includes a root portion and a blade portion having a tip. At least part of the blade including the tip is coated with an insulating material. Insulating material is removed from the tip and the airfoil is mounted in a fixture so that the tip is exposed. The fixture is immersed in a sealing bath, and the fixture and at least a portion of the airfoil is encased in sealing material while leaving the tip exposed. The fixture is then immersed in an electroplating bath, the exposed tip is electroplated, and the fixture is removed from the bath.

Process for selectively electroplating an airfoil

A dead bolt lock for doors, and the like, having an axial shaft extendable from the bolt and a bolt catch mounted in the door jamb adapted to be actuated by said shaft when the bolt is moved into extended position, and to engage and lock said bolt, until said shaft is retracted.

A vehicle console for mounting and enclosing radios and the like characterized by a box-like enclosure having a frontwardly facing access opening that is coverable by an access door. The access door is lockable, and outwardly pivotable so that a radio and the like, having frontwardly presented control panels, may be easily adjusted when the door is downwardly opened. The box-like enclosure is pivotable with respect to a bracket that is adapted to be mounted upon an vehicle surface. To ensure secure anti-theft mounting of the bracket to a vehicle surface, square aperture holes are provided in a downwardly disposed flange of the bracket so that the carriage head bolts may be downwardly inserted therethrough, thereby rendering it impossible to remove the mounting bolts from above. In a preferred embodiment the console is particularly adapted for mounting upon the drive shaft tunnel of a vehicle, wherein removal of the carriage bolts necessitates access from beneath the vehicle, in the vicinity of the drive shaft. The console of the present invention significantly provides a lockable box-like enclosure, for such electronic items as CB radios, wherein the provision of knock-outs and vented surfaces of the enclosure even permit transmitting and receiving on the radio while the access door is locked securely in place, leaving a conventional hand microphone attached to an external bracket on the outside of the enclosure.
