In a tire inflation insert of the present invention, a tire casing contains a ring having a plurality of air filled spaces or pockets. The tire inflation insert comprises a roll of a flexible sheet, wrapped with a securing belt of material such as tape, which is formed into a ring for insertion into the tire casing. The flexible sheet comprises rubber or plastic sheeting or other flexible material having a plurality of air pockets therein although flexible foam material may also be used. In some cases non-resilient foam may be introduced into the tire casing in the form of a liquid mixture which chemically reacts to form a non-resilient foam and fills the entire cavity thereof. Such non-resilient foam is currently used in packaging materials where chemicals are mixed as they are introduced to the cavity and the chemical reaction causes foam to form within the cavity forcing air out of any cavity and completely filling the same with foam having a plurality of cavities. In addition, a flexible sheet similar to that used to protect products during shipping may be used or other matting which is formed by the process of pressing two sheets of rubber, plastic or other flexible material together using heat and forced air to form one sheet of a flexible sheet containing compressed air bubbles. Any suitable process for creating a flexible sheet, however, can be used.

Deflation resistant tire and insert apparatus

A releasable overshot having independent slips, for retrieval of downhole tools and other equipment, which can be operated with a wireline, tubing, coiled tubing, or drill pipe string.

Releasable overshot

A fail-safe mechanism for closing the rams in a conventional blowout preventer. The mechanism includes a ram shaft having an enlarged outer end that is exposed to well pressure which exerts a constant closing force. The closing force is opposed by a hydraulic fluid chamber which is evacuated in the event of fire, etc. A floating plug within the ram shaft helps prevent leaks of well fluid from the blowout preventer.

Fail-safe blowout preventer

An apparatus for engaging a tubular member with a tension type spear in which the spear is locked to the tubular member so that it is not released when compressive or other non-tension loads are applied to it. The present invention locks the spear to the tubular member through abutment of a transfer assembly connected to the spear supporting mandrel after the spear has been set within the tubular member. The abutment of the transfer assembly and the tubular member lock the spear within the tubular member under tension so that compressive or other non-tension loads on the supporting pipe string will not affect the grip of the spear.

Lock-down releasing spear assembly

A casing scraper which provides substantially 360.degree. of contact between the interior diameter of casing. The cutter blades of the casing scraper are of a segmented tubular shape to provide a substantially 360.degree. contact area. The segmented cutter blades are biased radially outwardly by springs oriented in an alignment housing between the supporting mandrel and the cutter blades.

A shock absorber assembly adapted to be used with a drill string dampening intermittent shocks and vibrational forces encountered with a drill string, the shock absorber assembly including a mandrel, a tubular body reciprocally mounted with respect to the mandrel, and a dampening device including an annular chamber adapted to be filled with a compressible fluid and a flexible wall with the mandrel adjacent the annular chamber for permitting flexure of the mandrel as needed for dampening.

A new and improved inner seal assembly adapted to be mounted with the ram of a blowout preventer which includes a central sealing member and a seal insert, with the central sealing member being formed having at least one securing member receptacle capable of receiving a securing member formed with the seal insert, with the seal insert being removably mounted with the central sealing member by yieldable cooperation between the seal insert and the central sealing member.

A new and improved seal for an overshot and method for doing same wherein the seal includes a seal ring body mounted with the overshot, the seal ring body having a first and second sealing lip formed therewith and extending inwardly into the bore of the overshot, with the first sealing lip for initially engaging the tubular member to reduce fluid flow therebetween and the second sealing lip, spaced above the first sealing lip, for establishing a fluid-tight relation between the second sealing lip and the tubular member for preventing fluid flow therebetween.

Seal assembly

An improved hydromechanical drilling jar for applying upward and downward jarring blows to an object stuck in a well wherein the jar comprises a mechanically operated jar section which is connected with a hydraulically operated jar section by flexible tubular connector means for providing flexibility therebetween for relieving bending moments on the jar sections during use. The jar sections are separable for ease in storage and transportation and may be relatively positioned in a drill string as desired.

Hydromechanical drilling jar

A hydraulic jar for applying a jarring blow to an object stuck in a well wherein two separate annular fluid chambers are provided in the jar, with one of the chambers confining a body of operating hydraulic fluid and means for restraining relative longitudinal movement of the jar for developing tension and stretch in the drill string so as to produce the jarring blow, and with the second annular fluid chamber confining a body of heavy lubricating fluid and splined portions and jarring surfaces to isolate foreign particles from the operating fluid chamber to prevent or inhibit internal jamming or sticking during actuation. Because the means disposed in the operating fluid chamber are subjected only to forces developed during the pulling stroke, the operating fluid chamber may have a greater area for the development of greater pull loads at lower hydraulic pressures than prior hydraulic jar.
