An electrical component includes a ceramic base body. The ceramic base body includes several ceramic layers including a function layer and a composite layer bordering the function layer. The composite layer can include a zirconium oxide-glass filler mixture.

Electrical component

The electrical multilayer component includes a base body with external electrodes and internal electrodes. A ceramic varistor layer is provided with the first internal electrode, and a dielectric layer adjoins the varistor layer. The dielectric layer has at least one opening filled with a semiconducting material or a metal.

A method for increasing the ESD pulse stability of an electrical component is disclosed. An electrical component is pre-aged by means of an aging pulse generated by a pulse generator. The degradation of an electrical characteristic curve of the component by ESD pulses that occur during operation of the electrical component is improved by the pre-aging.
