The present invention pertains to a device, system, and method for evaluating the condition of a wooden structure by automated profiling of the hardness of the structure. More particularly, the present invention is directed towards a probing device comprising a blade coupled to a resistance mechanism and a mechanical sensor for measuring the hardness of wood in a structure; a system comprising such a device, and a computing device coupled to the device that outputs the hardness measurements of the device; and a method for operating such a device and determining the condition of wood by identifying changes in hardness in a wooden structure.

Disclosed herein are methods of making solid bodies of dazomet for use in internal remedial treatments of wood and methods of applying such solid bodies to wooden structures and manufacturing such solid bodies. The structural body further includes wire-binding holes extending at least in part through a wire-binding face, the wire-binding holes including a first wire-binding hole separated by a second wire-binding hole from a third wire-binding hole. The first wire-binding hole has a first longitudinal axis at an angle that intersects a third longitudinal axis of the third wire-binding hole. A fastener is inserted through the second wire-binding hole, the fastener having an hourglass section with a contour that generally matches at least in part a corresponding contour of the first cable hole and the third cable hole.
