Water-soluble, hydrophobically associating copolymer comprising a monoethylenically unsaturated, water-soluble, surface-active monomer (a), and a monoethylenically unsaturated, hydrophilic monomer (b) different from monomer (a). The copolymer is prepared in the presence of a nonpolymerizable surfactant and has marked thickening properties in aqueous systems.

Water-soluble, hydrophobic associating copolymers

Water-soluble, hydrophobically associating copolymers which comprise new types of hydrophobically associating monomers. The monomers comprise an ethylenically unsaturated group and a polyether group with block structure comprising a hydrophilic polyalkylene oxide block which consists essentially of ethylene oxide groups, and a terminal, hydrophobic polyalkylene oxide block which consists of alkylene oxides with at least 4, preferably at least 5 carbon atoms.

Hydrophobically associating copolymers

A description is given of azetidine derivatives and methods for producing them, and of their use as a latent curing component for resins having functional groups which are reactive toward amino groups. The particular advantages of the curing component proposed in accordance with the invention, such as effective producibility, high environmental friendliness, and excellent storage stability of the resin/curing agent mixtures, make these azetidine derivatives outstandingly suitable for one-component, moisture-hardening polymer compositions, which are of special interest in particular for the production of (floor) coatings, sealants, and adhesives.

Azetidine derivatives, method for producing said derivatives and use thereof

The invention relates to water-soluble copolymers used as water retention agents, stabilizers and rheology modifiers in aqueous building material systems based on hydraulic binders such as cement, lime, plaster, anhydrite etc. and in water-based paint and coating systems. The inventive copolymers are highly effective water retention agents even when used in relatively small amounts. They also exhibit excellent air pore stability and adhesiveness. They can also be used as stabilizers in building material and paint systems.
