An antisurge controller for a turbocompressor system stores multiple control algorithms in a memory for the antisurge controller. The antisurge controller identifies capabilities of field devices in the turbocompressor system. The field devices include an antisurge valve and multiple sensors. The antisurge controller selects one of the multiple control algorithms based on the identified capabilities and applies the selected control algorithm to the turbocompressor system. The selected control algorithm provides the smallest surge control margin, of the surge control margins in the multiple control algorithms, that are supported by the identified capabilities.

Systems and methods for adapting compressor controller based on field conditions

Methods and apparatus to diagnose a valve using electric valve actuators are disclosed. An example apparatus includes an electric motor to actuate a valve, rotation sensors to monitor a rotation of a drive shaft associated with the electric motor to determine a distance travelled by the drive shaft, and a valve position sensor to monitor a position of a flow control member of the valve. The example electric valve actuator further includes a processor to generate an alert based on feedback from the rotation sensors and the valve position sensor, the alert associated with a failure of the valve.

Methods and apparatus to diagnose a valve using electric valve actuators

A self-discharging reserve power unit comprises an electrical energy storage component to provide power to a process control device. The electric energy storage component is coupled to an energy discharge component and a controller, which causes the discharge component to discharge energy from the electrical energy storage component following completion of an operation by the process control device.

Multiple-contact switches are disclosed. An example multiple-contact switch disclosed herein includes a double throw switch having a common terminal, a first throw terminal, and a second throw terminal, the common terminal being coupled to a reference; a first throw circuit coupled to the first throw terminal, the first throw circuit to output an open signal to a process control device when the common terminal is substantially in contact with one of the first throw terminal or the second throw terminal; and a second throw circuit coupled to the second throw terminal, the second throw circuit to cause the first throw circuit to output a close signal to the process control device when the common terminal is substantially in contact with the other one of the first throw terminal or the second throw contact terminal, wherein at least one of the open signal or the close signal corresponds to the reference.

Coupling apparatus for use with electric actuators are described herein. An example coupling apparatus described herein includes a coupling assembly to operatively couple a fluid flow control member of a fluid valve and a drive system of the electric actuator. Rotation of the drive system in a first rotational direction causes the coupling assembly to move in a first rectilinear direction and rotation of the drive system in a second rotational direction causes the coupling assembly to move in a second rectilinear direction opposite the first direction. The coupling assembly includes a biasing element that is to be deflected to provide a seat load to the fluid flow control member when the fluid flow control member is in sealing engagement with a valve seat of the fluid valve and electric power to the electric actuator is removed.

Coupling apparatus for use with electric actuators

Electric actuators having internal load apparatus are described herein. An example electric actuator having an internal load apparatus described herein includes a housing defining a cavity to receive a drive system and a drive shaft operatively coupled to the drive system. Rotation of the drive system in a first rotational direction causes the drive shaft to move in a first rectilinear direction and rotation of the drive system in a second rotational direction causes the drive shaft to move in a second rectilinear direction opposite the first rectilinear direction. A biasing element is operatively coupled to the drive system such that least a portion of the drive system moves axially toward the biasing element to deflect the biasing element when the drive shaft reaches an end of stroke position to provide a load to the drive shaft when electric power to the electric actuator is removed.
