A headset system for use with especially in a call center environment, in which method a wireless connection is established between headset and base unit, and the wireless connection is maintained while indicating from a headset user interface to the base unit that the headset is available for receiving an incoming call. The headset system is connected to a telephone system and has a processor configured to receive mode information and to operate according to the received mode information. The headset has a headset user interface and controls the headset signal processor to operate in accordance with user input. The headset is further configured to provide the end-of-call information to the base unit while maintaining the wireless connection.

Headset system for use in a call center environment

The invention relates to a method of programming a processing unit by firmware in a protocol converter for providing first data received from a telephone device in accordance with a first protocol to a headset system in accordance with a second protocol and for providing second data received from the headset system in accordance with the second protocol to the telephone in accordance with the first protocol, the operation of the protocol converter being controlled by the processing unit. The invention further relates to a protocol converter, such as an Electronic Hook Switch adapter, for providing first data received from a telephone device in accordance with a first protocol to a headset system in accordance with a second protocol and for providing second data received from the headset system in accordance with the second protocol to the telephone device in accordance with the first protocol. The headset system provides firmware to the protocol converter in accordance with the second protocol.

A communications system and a method of detecting and learning new ringtones in an automatic manner, comprising a desk phone (), a hook switch, a ringtone detector (), and a communications device (). In a first embodiment a mechanical hook switch device is connected to the desk phone (), and in a second embodiment an electronic hook switch unit () is connected to the desk phone (). The ringtone detector () adaptively sets the filter and amplifier parameters according to the sensor position and pick-up sensitivity. A self configuring headset system comprising an interface unit, a method of setting up a headset system to a telephone device using and interface unit and a telephone interface unit is provided. The telephone interface unit is configured to automatically set up a headset system to a telephone device, the headset system comprising a headset and the telephone interface unit, the telephone interface unit comprising a switching unit configured to switch at least a headset transmit signal line and a headset receive signal line to a telephone transmit signal line and a telephone receive signal line, respectively, and a processor being pre-programmed with one or more telephone device permutation settings, wherein the processor is configured to receive, from the telephone device, telephone configuration information on the basis of which a specific permutation setting is selected among the one or more pre-programmed permutation settings, the processor being configured to control the switching unit according to the specific permutation setting.
