The invention relates to an actuator () comprising a housing (), a coil () and an armature () which interacts with a tappet () and a spring, the armature plate () thereof being arranged to lie opposite an armature counterpiece (), and said actuator () comprising at least one magnetostrictively-active component. According to the invention, an actuator () is provided with which large actuating paths can be travelled at high actuating forces. This is achieved by the actuator () additionally being designed to act as a solenoid.

Actuator

The invention relates to a fuel injection device for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, comprising an end () that is located at a distance from the combustion chamber and has at least one electric connection () and at least one return flow connection (). In order to create a fuel injection device () that has a simple design and can be produced cost-effectively, the return flow connection () and the electric connection () are integrated in a common connecting member.

A method for operating a hybrid drive of a motor vehicle in particular. An internal combustion engine is connected to a generator via a force-conducting connection. In a learning mode, the generator is operated as a motor and drives the internal combustion engine. In this learning mode, a so-called zero quantity calibration is performed.

An arrangement is proposed for forming a piezoelectric actuator, which has at least one piezoelectric element that in each case consists of a multi-layer structure of piezoelectric-layers, wherein internal electrodes arranged between the piezoelectric-layers in the direction of the build-up of the layers of the piezoelectric element, have an electrical voltage of different polarity alternately applied to them. Around the piezoelectric element, or in the case of multiple piezoelectric elements positioned in series in the activation direction, around the piezoelectric elements, and at least partially around the actuator head and the actuator foot there is arranged a covering system made from at least one layer of an insulating material. The at least one layer encloses the joints between the piezoelectric element or elements and the actuator head and the actuator foot, forming a seal.

Arrangement with a coated piezoelectric actuator

A fuel injector for an internal combustion engine is proposed having a directly actuatable injection valve element. The fuel injector has a nozzle needle, axially guided in a nozzle body, and an actuator accommodated in an injector housing. The nozzle needle is connected to a coupling piston on the nozzle-needle side and the actuator is connected to a coupling piston on the actuator side. The coupling piston on the actuator side acts on a coupling chamber and the coupling piston on the nozzle-needle side acts on a control chamber. The nozzle needle is lifted from a nozzle-needle sealing seat as a function of the pressure in the control space. An intermediate plate is provided between injector housing and nozzle body. The plate has a conduit hydraulically connecting the coupling chamber to the control chamber. The conduit contains a hydraulic throttle which has at least two sections having different cross sections of flow. The section having the smaller cross section of flow faces the coupling chamber and the section having the larger cross section of flow faces the control chamber. The throttle disclosed suppresses oscillations of the actuator in the transmission of the actuator stroke to the nozzle needle stroke.

Fuel injector having directly actuatable injection valve element

A piezoelectric actuator module having a multilayer structure of piezoelectric elements is proposed as a piezoelectric actuator, wherein a different polarity of an electric voltage is alternately applied to inner electrodes which are arranged between piezoelectric layers of the piezoelectric elements in the direction of the layer structure of the piezoelectric elements, said module having an actuator foot and an actuator head composed of steel and having an elastic insulation medium which surrounds at least the piezoelectric elements in predefined limits. At least one annular groove or recess, into which a material which can be crosslinked with the insulation medium is vulcanized, is provided on the actuator foot and/or on the actuator head, and a flexible, weldable hose or sheath lies encompasses the piezoelectric element, and at least above the grooves or recesses containing the material as an insulation medium the weldable hose is welded to the material in the grooves or recesses.

Piezoelectric actuator module having a sheath, and a method for its production

The fuel injection apparatus has a high-pressure pump and has a respective injector for each cylinder of the engine, which injector is at least indirectly connected to the high-pressure pump via a hydraulic line. Each injector is connected to the high-pressure pump via a hydraulic line and/or to the injector of another cylinder of the engine. This makes it possible to eliminate the high-pressure accumulator that is usually provided between the high-pressure pump and the injectors.

Fuel injection apparatus for a multicylinder internal combustion engine

A fuel injection device comprising a high-pressure pump supplying a fuel to a high-pressure area in which an injector for injecting fuel into an internal combustion engine cylinder is arranged. An electric control unit for controlling fuel injection by at least one injector is provided. A pressure adjusting valve which adjusts a pressure in the high-pressure area and controls a connection between said high pressure area and a low-pressure fuel-filled area is controlled by the control unit. When the pressure adjusting valve is not controlled by the control unit it is placed in an open switching position in such a way that the connection between the high- low-pressure areas is opened, thereby preventing a gas formation in the high pressure area when the internal combustion engine is switched off and the fuel is cooled.

Fuel injection device for an internal combustion engine

A fuel injector with direct needle control has a nozzle needle guided in a nozzle body, and an actuator and a hydraulic pressure boosting unit that has an actuator pressure boosting piston connected to the actuator and a nozzle needle pressure boosting piston connected to the nozzle needle. The actuator pressure boosting piston and the nozzle needle pressure boosting piston both act on a coupler chamber. The nozzle needle pressure boosting piston contains a cylindrical chamber in which a control piston is axially guided, whose coupler chamber pressure surface is exposed to the coupler chamber and whose differential pressure chamber pressure surface is exposed to an inner differential pressure chamber contained in the cylindrical chamber. At its end oriented away from the coupler chamber, the nozzle needle pressure boosting piston is associated with an outer differential pressure chamber that communicates with the inner differential pressure chamber via a hydraulic connection.

Fuel injector with direct needle control for an internal combustion engine

A fuel injector with a direct needle control for an internal combustion engine, having an actuator, a hydraulic booster, and a nozzle needle guided in a nozzle body and acting on a nozzle needle sealing seat. The hydraulic booster includes a booster piston connected to the actuator and a nozzle needle booster piston connected to the nozzle needle; a booster chamber in the form of an actuator coupler chamber is associated with a pressure surface of the actuator booster piston; and depending on the pressure in the actuator coupler chamber, the nozzle needle is lifted away from the nozzle needle sealing seat, thus initiating an injection. In addition to the actuator booster piston, a control element is provided that is able to execute a stroke motion, is hydraulically coupled to the actuator coupler chamber by means of a first control surface, and is associated with a control chamber by means of a second control surface. The actuator booster piston has a second pressure surface, which, as an additional control surface, is associated with the control chamber.

A high-pressure fuel system including a housing having first and second high-pressure bodies (), which contact one another at a contact face. A high-pressure chamber in the housing passes through the contact face, and at least intermittently a high fuel pressure is present in the chamber (). A wall part having a longitudinal axis surrounds the housing at least in the region of the contact face, so that a leak fuel chamber () is formed between the wall part and the housing which chamber is sealed off from the outside.

High-pressure fuel device

A device for adjusting an armature stroke of an armature upon actuation of a magnet of an electromagnetic valve having a stop bush disposed in an axial guide relative to a main body of the electromagnetic valve and adjustable in its axial position relative to the main body of the electromagnetic valve, which stop bush forms a stop for limiting the armature stroke in an axial direction. A variable adjusting element with two threaded portions providing a variable thread pitch (P) and the same thread direction by which the position of the stop bush is adjustable. The first threaded portion engages a corresponding first threaded portion of the stop bush, and the second threaded portion engages a corresponding second threaded portion of the main body, and to an electromagnetic valve having a corresponding device, in particular for use in a fuel injector.
