A tear-resistant dental dam is provided. The tear-resistant dental dam includes a first thermoplastic elastomeric sheet and a second thermoplastic elastomeric sheet disposed on the first thermoplastic elastomeric sheet. The first and second thermoplastic elastomeric sheets have a grid pattern of weld joint regions configured to couple together the first and second thermoplastic elastomeric sheets. The grid pattern of weld joint regions define a plurality of unwelded regions of the first and second thermoplastic elastomeric sheets.

Tear-resistant dental dams

A tear-resistant dental dam is provided. The tear-resistant dental dam includes a first elastomeric sheet and a second elastomeric sheet disposed on the first elastomeric sheet. The first and second elastomeric sheets have a grid pattern of weld joint regions configured to couple together the first and second elastomeric sheets. The grid pattern of weld joint regions define a plurality of unwelded regions of the first and second elastomeric sheets.

A system and a method for remotely controlling at least one device based on operation of a foot pedal apparatus are provided. The system includes a device selection module (DSM) configured to transmit a first modulated RF signal at a first RF frequency having a communication linking command and a first RF frequency identifier. The first RF frequency identifier indicates a second RF frequency different than the first RF frequency. The system further includes a device control module (DCM) configured to receive the first modulated RF signal at the first RF frequency and to compare the communication linking command to a predetermined communication linking command. If the communication linking command corresponds to the predetermined communication linking command then the DCM selects the second RF frequency based on the first RF frequency identifier for subsequent RF signal reception.

System and method for controlling at least one device

A device control module and a method for controlling at least first and second devices based on operation of a foot pedal apparatus having a moveable member are provided. The device control module includes an RF receiver configured to receive a first RF signal at a first time indicating at least partial displacement of the moveable member of the foot pedal apparatus from a first operational position. The first RF signal has a first identifier value indicating the first device is to be controlled. The device control module further includes a processor operably coupled to the RF receiver. The processor is configured to activate the first device in response to the first RF signal. The RF receiver is further configured to receive a second RF signal at a second time after the first time. The second RF signal indicates at least partial displacement of the moveable member of the foot pedal apparatus from the first operational position. The second RF signal has a second identifier value indicating the second device is to be controlled. The processor is further configured to activate the second device in response to the second RF signal.

Device control module and method for controlling devices

A system and a method for remotely controlling at least a first device based on operation of a foot pedal apparatus are provided. The foot pedal apparatus has a movable member. The system includes a first module configured to transmit a first RF signal in response to at least partial displacement of the moveable member of the foot pedal apparatus from a first operational position. The first signal has a first identifier. The system further includes a second module configured to receive the first RF signal and to transmit a second RF signal having the first identifier and a second identifier in response to the first RF signal. The system further includes a third module configured to receive the second RF signal and to control operation of the first device in response to the second RF signal.

System and method for remotely controlling devices

A universal-control mechanism for automated selection and control of operation of components within an operatory includes at least one implement, wherein the implement has been assigned a signal address. The mechanism also includes a control device adapted to be activated by a user of the mechanism and to control the operation of the implement. The mechanism also includes a selector switch used to designate the implement selected and a signal generator adapted to receive a signal from the control device when the control device is activated and to generate a command signal directed to the signal address for the implement selected by the selector switch. The mechanism also includes at least one receiver unit operatively connected to the selected implement such that activation of the control device acts to control the implement via the signal generator and the receiver unit to control the operation of the implement.

Universal-control mechanism for dental implements

A system and a method for remotely controlling devices are provided. The system includes a foot pedal unit having a moveable member. The system further includes a transmitter operatively associated with the moveable member. The transmitter transmits a first signal in response to at least partial displacement of the moveable member when a first device is selected. The transmitter transmits a second signal in response to at least partial displacement of the moveable member when a second device is selected.

A disposable dental prophylaxis angle including an elongated housing which defines a longitudinal axis and has a central bore and a head portion in fluid communication with the central bore. A prophylaxis cup is rotatably supported by the head portion and in fluid communication with the central bore through the head portion. An actuator is movably supported by the housing and includes a piston cooperatively received and supported in the central bore. Together, the piston and the central bore define a fluid chamber of decreasable volume located therebetween. A flowable dentifrice material may be contained within this chamber. The actuator is manually movable in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the housing to move the piston within the central bore in an indexing fashion in successive increments of a predetermined distance therealong, to reduce the volume of the chamber and to force the flowable dentifrice material in predetermined, incremental amounts which correspond to the distance traveled by the piston, from the chamber to the prophy cup via the head portion. In addition, the present invention discloses an actuator including a cam and a push rod having a cam follower, an isolation tube and a piston which is movably supported on the isolation tube in one direction but which allows relative movement of the isolation tube in the opposite direction to advance the dentifrice material from the chamber to the prophy cup. In addition, the present invention includes a primary drive gear having flow paths which promote the flow of the dentifrice material therethrough when rotated in one direction. Finally, the present invention also incorporates a paste delivery system having a dentifrice dispensing nipple formed on the head portion of the housing.

Disposable dental prophylaxis angle

Articulating forceps having a reflective element for viewing a substrate include a pair of arms biased in a direction opposite one another and joined at their respective ends. The articulating forceps further include a pair of clamping members disposed opposite one another and biased toward one another by the pair of arms to their normally clamped position. A reflective member extends longitudinally relative to the pair of arms and is disposed spaced from, but adjacent to, the clamping member for viewing a substrate such as the patient's teeth or gums.
