One computer readable medium embodiment includes computer readable instructions stored thereon for execution by a device to perform a method of environmental data collection. The method can include receiving environmental data and associated time data. The method can also include aggregating time data into categories of environmental data within, above, and below a range. The method can further include outputting the aggregated and categorized time data.

Environmental data collection

One apparatus embodiment includes an electronic assembly, equipped to sense one or more changes in an environmental condition. The assembly includes a logic circuit coupled to: one or more environmental sensors, memory that provides data storage, and a wireless communicator. The logic circuit is configured to perform time measurement, perform environmental measurement with the one or more environmental sensors, store time-stamped environmental data in the memory, and communicate with particular other electronic assemblies, equipped to sense one or more changes in an environmental condition, via the wireless communicator. The logic circuit is also coupled to a power source that provides power to at least one of the logic circuit and the wireless communicator.

Environmental sensing and communication

A system and method are disclosed for monitoring environmental conditions of a perishable product. The system includes an environmental sensor configured to sense one or more environmental conditions of the perishable product and an analog integrator in communication with the environmental sensor, the analog integrator being formed on a polymer substrate and including one or more tunable components. The system also includes a comparator in communication with the analog integrator and configured to change state when an output of the analog integrator reaches a selected threshold level, and a control module in communication with the comparator and the analog integrator. The control module is configured to control the operation of the analog integrator based on an output of the comparator.

System and method for monitoring environmental conditions

Methods, mediums, systems, and devices for redundant monitoring are disclosed. One method of providing redundancy in an environmental monitoring device includes combining a first sensor, one or more redundant sensors, and a plurality of control logic components; monitoring a selected environmental condition using the plurality of sensors; measuring the selected environmental condition using the plurality of sensors each reporting to a particular control logic component among the plurality of control logic components, each of the plurality of control logic components monitoring a sequence of such measurements; and correlating corresponding monitored measurements from the sequence of measurements of each of the plurality of control logic components and determining whether a difference exists between the corresponding monitored measurements of each of the plurality of control logic components.

Redundant monitoring

One apparatus embodiment includes an electronics assembly including an environmental sensor, memory that provides data storage, a logic circuit, an indicator component, and a power source for providing power to at least one of the logic circuit and the memory. The logic circuit can be designed to perform a time measurement, perform an environmental measurement with the environmental sensor, and/or initiate an alarm status when a calculated alarm event time occurs based upon the environmental measurement. The indicator component can be connected to the logic circuit for displaying the alarm status.

Embodiments of the present application relate generally to methods and apparatus for relating information in a form either machine-readable, human-readable, or some combination thereof. More particularly, although not exclusively, these embodiments are concerned with the display of information on a smart active label or smart packaging where low power and low cost are significant considerations. In some embodiments, display methods are based on electronic, electromechanical, electrochemical, and combinations thereof configured or manufactured using printing techniques, micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) techniques, or combinations thereof to achieve high reliability, low cost, and low activation energies. The embodiments described above can provide an accurate and low-cost apparatus and method for relating the information obtained by smart active labels and smart packages.
