An open ended carton which includes a moisture barrier membrane liner attached to interior surfaces of a cover. The membrane liner includes first and second hingedly connected attachment sections which are heat sealed to the cover at marginal sealing areas. A pour spout is provided by pivoting one attachment section outwardly from the carton opening. Pressure sensitive adhesive disposed on the marginal areas of the outwardly pivoting attachment section effects a moisture barrier closure of the carton.

Carton with reclosable membrane liner

An open ended carton including a membrane liner and a cover having a peripherally depending flange which overlies a top end portion of the carton. A transverse score line in the cover and contiguous perforation lines in the flange divide the cover into first and second sections to provide a hinged pour spout. An extension panel attached to a peripheral edge of the carton includes a terminal section which is heat sealed to an interior section of the peripheral cover flange. Severance of a hinged section of the extension panel defines an indentation between a top panel in the cover and the terminal section which receives the hinged section for locking reclosure of the cover. The cover is locked in open position by inward flexing of sections of the peripheral cover flange which are received in the carton opening.

Barrier carton with reclosable pour spout

An openable and reclosable pour spout forming carton formed from a one-piece blank of paperboard. The carton is generally brick shaped and has a sealing fin on its upper surface, the fin defined by two panels sealingly adhered together. This double thickness fin is adhered to the top of the carton by first folding it and then glueing so as to lie flat. One fin forming flap is provided with a tear strip which, after tearing, defines a tuck tab on the flap. The tuck tab, after partial carton dispensing through the pour spout, is placed beneath a tuck edge portion of the other fin forming panel. By this arrangement, the pour spout can be more fully reclosed and thus will inhibit contamination of the carton contents after the initial carton opening, partial contents dispensing, and pour spout reclosing.

Openable and reclosable carton

An insert which is frictionally positioned in the top end of a barrier carton and dimensioned for ready removal through a carton pour spout. The insert includes a central panel and a peripheral flange which is hingedly connected to the central panel at an embossed score line. Removal of the insert is facilitated by the provision of outwardly curved edges in the peripheral flange. A knock-out opening is provided in the central panel for pulling the insert through the carton pour spout.

The present invention is an end closure structure for a container having a flexible central member (6) with an outwardly dished center section and at least one opening structure (18) in the central member (6), a removable thin flexible closure member (12) disposed over the opening structure (18) which is in a first sealing relationship (32) with a portion of the opening structure (18) and a second sealing relationship (34) with the top surface of the central member (6), an upwardly extending flange member (8) circumferentially disposed from the peripheral edge of the central member (6), and a downwardly extending sealing skirt (10) circumferentially disposed from a top edge of the flange member (8).

Process for providing filled containers

An open ended carton which includes a recessed moisture barrier closure provided by a membrane liner and an overlying cover. The membrane liner includes a perforated cut-out area which defines a pour spout. The cover which is affixed to the cut-out area by a heat seal pivots outwardly about a transverse score line to sever the perforations. Areas in the cover which surround the cut-out perforations in the membrane are releasably sealed to the membrane, such that outward pivoting of the cover severs the perforations and peels the seal open to provide a pour spout.

The present invention is a protective packaging system for a plurality of containers (12) having a top protective cover (2) for engaging and protecting the top end closures (62) of the plurality of containers (12), and an enclosing material (14), such as shrink wrap (14), disposed about a plurality of containers (12) having the top protective cover (2) disposed thereon for maintaining the top protective cover (2) in contact with the top end closures (62) of the containers (12).

Protective packaging system for a plurality of containers

A container lid composed of a plastic material comprising a main lid member and a slide member is disclosed, as well as a method of constructing and a mold for forming same. The main lid member has supporting guideways between which the slide member is situated, and the guideways are angled relative to the plane of the main lid member so as to hold the slide member on the lid. At least one aperture is provided for dispensing or collecting the container contents, the aperture being located at a point on the main lid member such that at least a portion of the slide member can be moved along the path between the guideways to a position covering the aperture. The slide member has: (1) a finger engageable portion for moving the slide between a closed position over the aperture and an open position in which the aperture is exposed; and (2) a formed recess which protrudes from its lower surface. The dimensions of the recess correspond substantially to the dimensions of the lid aperture for forming a tight-fitting lid closure when the slide member is in the closed position over the lid aperture.

End closure structure for a container

The present invention is directed to a device to hold open for loading a limp plastic sack having a pair of integral handles and a body portion terminating in a base portion. It comprises a horizontally disposed base member; a pair of oppositely-disposed, upwardly-projecting side wall members, which are attached at their lower ends to the base member; an upwardly projecting rear wall member, wherein each vertical edge of the rear wall member is attached to a vertical edge of each of the side wall members; and means to engage the handles of the plastic sack, said means comprising a pair of spaced apart protuberances that are affixed to the outer side, and near the upper edge, of each of the side wall members. Preferably, the height of each side wall member is slightly smaller than the height of the plastic sack to be loaded therein, and the internal perimeter of the base member is at least equal to or slightly greater than the perimeter of the base of the plastic sack when the sack is in an open position ready for loading.

Plastic sack holder

A six-cell divider fabricated from an essentially rectangular unitary blank is provided. The divider comprises a central tongue with integrally attached protruding tabs which forms the central wall of the erected divider, symmetrically disposed pairs of first, second, third and fourth wall panels, and first and second floor panels. The protruding tabs are sandwiched between the opposing faces of the third and fourth wall panels, which are brought together to form single walls. Means for securing the tabs may be provided.

Six-cell container divider

A hot-food transporting box made of a semi-rigid material having top, back, bottom, and side panels attached to each other by fold line segments. The box also includes a multi-lamina front panel, which panel includes a first lamina extending downwardly from and attached to the top panel and a second lamina extending upwardly and attached to the bottom panel. When the box is erected, one of the front laminas is outside of, overlying, and releasably engaging the other lamina and the inside front lamina contacts the bottom or top panel to which the outside front lamina is attached, thereby retarding the sagging of the top panel of the box due to heat and moisture generated from the hot food contained therein. The inside front lamina is attached by a fold line segment to the front edge of one of the bottom and top panels. Portions of the inside front lamina and the front edge define two openings therebetween, each opening being in substantial alignment with the fold line segment and adjacent and generally perpendicular to a side panel of the box. The outside front lamina is attached by a fold line segment to the front edge of the other of the bottom and top panels and includes two tabs, each of which are folded inwardly into an opening, whereby the laminas are in releasable engagement. Inwardly directed flaps are provided on the side panels, the flaps being vertically oriented between the top and bottom panels of the box when the front laminas are in releasable engagement, so that the side panels are in a substantially 90.degree. orientation to the top and bottom panels of the box and the box remains tightly closed to prevent loss of heat from the hot food contained therein.
