Disclosed herein are methods of increasing the hydrophilicity of a membrane. Membranes comprising polyaniline or co-polymer thereof and one or more gel inhibiting agents are treated with one or more hydrophilicity restoration agents, thereby increasing the hydrophilicity of a membrane. Also disclosed are membranes produced by the disclosed methods. Polyaniline membranes, uses, and methods thereto

By modifying existing methods for synthesizing polyaniline, a polyaniline polymer having a new constellation of material properties has been produced. The material properties of the polymeric compositions disclosed herein enhance the use of polyanilines in a wide variety of processes that use such materials, for example processes used in the formation of filtration membranes.

Membrane compositions and methods for making and using them

The present invention includes pH dependent, dry film coating compositions containing calcium silicate for use on orally-ingestible substrates such as tablets and the like. The film coating compositions can be applied as an aqueous suspension either directly to a substrate or after the substrate has been coated with a subcoat. In preferred aspects, the polymer is either an enteric or reverse-enteric polymer. Methods of preparing the dry film coatings, methods of preparing corresponding aqueous suspensions, methods of applying the coatings to substrates and the coated substrates themselves are also disclosed.

Delayed release film coatings containing calcium silicate and substrates coated therewith

The present invention is directed to immediate release film coating systems for use on oral dosage forms such as compressed tablets and other orally-ingestible substrates which have improved moisture barrier properties. The film coating systems can be applied either directly to a substrate or after the substrate has been coated with a subcoat. In preferred aspects, the moisture barrier film coating is prepared as a dry powder mixture containing polyvinyl alcohol, a polymer with pH dependent solubility, a plasticizer, a glidant, and, optionally, a detackifier, an alkalizing agent and a pigment. Film coating compositions containing an aqueous suspension of the powder mixtures, methods of applying the coatings to substrates and the coated substrates are also disclosed.

In preferred aspects, the polymer is either polyvinyl alcohol or a copolymer of polyvinyl alcohol. Aqueous suspensions comprising the inventive film coating compositions, methods of applying the coatings to substrates and the coated substrates themselves are also disclosed.

The present invention is directed to film coating systems for use on oral dosage forms such as compressed tablets and orally-ingestible substrates which have improved pearlescent qualities. The film coating systems can be applied either directly to a substrate or after the substrate has been coated with a subcoat. In preferred aspects, the pearlescent film coating is prepared as a dry powder mixture containing a cellulosic polymer, a detackifier, a gloss enhancer, and a pearlescent pigment. Film coating compositions containing an aqueous suspension of the powder mixtures, methods of applying the coatings to substrates and the coated substrates are also disclosed.

Pearlescent film coating systems and substrates coated therewith

A non-toxic, edible, enteric film coating, dry powder composition for use in making an aqueous enteric suspension which may be used in coating pharmaceutical tablets comprises a) an acrylic resin, said resin comprising i) from 20 to 85 percent by weight of at least one alkyl acrylate or alkyl methacrylate moiety, ii) from 80 to 15 percent by weight of at least one vinyl or vinylidene moiety having a carboxylic acid group capable of salt formation, and iii) from 0 to 30 percent by weight of at least one other vinyl or vinylidene moiety copolymerizable with i) and ii), b) an alkalizing agent capable of reacting with the acrylic resin such that, after reaction, 0.1 to 10 mole percent of the acidic groups in 1a-ii) are present in the salt form, and c) a detackifier.
