A window having a frame, two fixed jamb liners, a sash, and two hinged weatherstrips. The fixed jamb liners are secured to the frame such that they do not move laterally with respect to the frame. The hinged weatherstrips include a rigid sash bearing member hingedly connected to a second member. The sash bearing member is capable of moving laterally toward and away from the fixed jamb liner such that it provides an effective seal between the sash and the fixed jamb liner.

A window having a frame with at least two oppositely disposed side members, a top member, and a bottom member. Operably connected to each frame side member is a jamb liner having a front face and at least one jamb channel. Mounted within the frame is at least one sash having two oppositely disposed sides. The sash tilts away from the frame for easy cleaning. Within each jamb channel is a locking slide block for slidably and rotatably mounting the sash to the frame. A plough extends from the face of each jamb liner in the direction of the opposite frame side member. Each side of the sash has a sash groove for slidably mounting the sash in the frame by receiving adjacent ploughs. The plough and sash grooves have interlocking edges which engage to resist unintentional tilting of the sash. The jamb liner is mounted for lateral displacement from a first position wherein the plough is engaged with a sash groove to a second position wherein the plough is at least partially retracted from the groove so that the window can be tilted. There is a counterbalance operatively connected to the frame which has a counterbalance tab with an elongated portion having a flange proximate one end for connecting the counterbalance to the locking slide block.

Double-hung tilting sash type window system

A weatherstrip (20) for use with a slideable panel unit having a first panel and second panel, one of the panels being a slideable panel is disclosed. The weatherstrip (20) includes an engaging member (21) having a leading edge (26a-c) and having a first end (21a), a center region (21b) and a second end (21c). An offset member (22) is cooperatively connected to the engaging member (21), wherein when the offset member (22) is connected to one of the panels, the engaging member (21) is in a generally parallel spaced relationship to one of the panels. The leading edge (26b) of the engaging member (21) is in inwardly displaced at the center region (21b) with respect to the leading edge (26a) and (26c) at the ends (21a and c), whereby the inward displaced region (21b) reduces clashing between the panels when one of the panels is bowed.
