A capability is provided for supporting a service location capability in a peer-to-peer network (P2P), such as a Chord network or other P2P network. In one embodiment, a method for locating a service within a P2P network is provided. The P2P network includes a plurality of nodes, including a target node which performs the method for locating the service within the P2P network. The target node includes a search table including a plurality of entries identifying a respective plurality of nodes of the P2P network. The method includes detecting a request to search for the service within the P2P network and initiating, toward at least one of the nodes of the search table, a service search request. The service search request is a request to identify at least one node of the P2P network that supports the service. The service search request includes information indicative of the service and a search range for use by the node receiving the service search request.

Method and apparatus for locating services within peer-to-peer networks

A capability is provided for adaptive polling of a device based on a set of polling control regions configured to control polling of the device. The set of polling control regions is defined based on at least one of a set of control parameters and non-parametric control information. A transition within the set of polling control regions is determined based on a current polling control region and a target polling control region that is determined based on input information received while in the current polling control region. The input information may include at least one of values of one or more parameters in the set of parameters and non-parametric input information. The transition may include remaining in the current polling control region or transitioning to a new polling control region. The transition may be performed based on a rapid up controlled down (RUCD) transition scheme.

Adaptive polling of information from a device

An illustrative example computing system includes a parallel computing controller configured to communicate control information with a plurality of computing nodes over a virtual private network. A cloud computing controller is configured to receive a communication from the parallel computing controller. Based at least in part on the received communication, the cloud computing controller allocates cloud computing resources to facilitate data traffic communication involving at least one of the plurality of computing nodes.

For voice traffic over-the-air in LTE, persistent schedule (PS) or semi-persistent (SPS) scheduling would be the preferred method as they minimize signaling messages. In PS or SPS, resources are pre-allocated to the UEat regular intervals (e.g., every 20 milliseconds). At each time slot, the UE will generally transmit an IMBE frames which are encoded in ISSI packet. In ISSI, other data streams are multiplexed with the IMBE frame and thus the packet size varies depending on its position within a super-frame. For PS or SPS, eNodeB must allocated sufficient resources to support the largest packet that. Therefore, there is spare capacity when the packet is not of the largest size. The exemplary embodiments specify ways to use spare capacity to transfer data.

Various embodiments provide a method and apparatus of providing a non-overlapping ring-mesh network topology which reduces costs (e.g., the number of network links) while providing resiliency to failure and meeting QoS requirements (e.g., network delay attributed to traversing the network architecture). In particular, a set of target nodes belonging to a cluster are connected through N rings. Each node is member of all N rings and no link between nodes in a ring is duplicated in another ring.

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to providing a method and system for call admission control for a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network shared between a plurality of user classes, such as, for example, a public safety user class and a consumer user class. An admission control module oversees the call admission process based on a specified policy profile. When there are insufficient resources in the network to support an incoming call, the admission control module will consult with a preemption module to determine whether, by preemption of lower priority calls, enough resources can be recovered to support the incoming call.

The usage list reflects transmissions determined by the scheduler.

Wake-up server

A method and system for group call control in a broadband wireless network. A group call (push-to-talk) server initiates and regulates group call communication sessions. A wireless base station communicates with one or more group call participants. When a request to participate in a group call is received, it is examined to see if it contains a group call ID or other group call indicator. If not, regular call resources are allocated, if available. If so, it is determined whether another group member is attached to the base station. Group call resources are then reserved, if available, based on this determination. The resources allocated for the group call may also depend on whether the system supports multicast on the downlink to group members, or whether losing audio is supported. In some embodiments, network resources may be reallocated to support the group call.

Group call control in a wireless broadband communication network

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to providing a method and system for call admission control and preemption of multiple bit-rate applications in a digital communication system. Multiple bit-rate applications such as streaming video can specify a Quality of Service (QoS) profile having multiple levels. When there are insufficient resources in the network to support an incoming multiple bit-rate call, the system determines whether, by reducing the bit-rate of the incoming call or by preemption of lower priority components of existing calls, enough resources can be recovered to support the incoming call.
