A wake-up radio unit for a wireless communication device is disclosed, wherein the wireless communication device has a plurality of wireless communication receivers. The wake-up radio unit is adapted to wake up any of the plurality of wireless communication receivers by receiving a wake-up signal, selecting one or more of the plurality of wireless communication receivers based on the wake-up signal, and waking up the selected one or more wireless communication receiver. In some embodiments, wherein each of the plurality of wireless communication receivers is adapted to receive in accordance with respective standard, the wake-up signal may comprise a set of symbols selected from a collection of possible sets of symbols. Each such set of symbols may indicate, at least in part, one or more corresponding standards. Then, the wake-up radio unit may be adapted to select one or more of the plurality of wireless communication receivers based on the wake-up signal by identifying the set of symbols of the received wake-up signal, and selecting the one or more wireless communication receivers adapted to receive in accordance with the one or more corresponding standards indicated by the identified set of symbols. Corresponding arrangement, wireless communication device, method and computer program product are also disclosed.

Wake-up radio

A method is disclosed of constructing a wake-up signal for waking up one or more of a plurality of wireless communication receivers, wherein each of the plurality of wireless communication receivers is adapted to receive in accordance with respective standard. The method comprises selecting a collection of sequences of symbols and dividing the collection of sequences into a plurality of groups, wherein all sequences of a group comprise a same first set of symbols. The method also comprises selecting one of the groups, and letting the first set of symbols of the selected group indicate one or more standards corresponding to the one or more of the wireless communication receivers to be woken up. The wake-up signal is then constructed based on a sequence of symbols of the selected group. The sequences of symbols of the collection may be of different lengths and the selected group may comprise sequences of symbols of different lengths. In such embodiments, the step of dividing the collection of sequences into a plurality of groups may comprise letting a first sequence and a second sequence (wherein the first sequence has a shorter length than the second sequence) belong to a same group if the first sequence and any part of the second sequence (wherein the part has the same length as the first sequence) differ in less than a number of positions. Corresponding arrangement and computer program product are also disclosed.

Wake-up signal construction

A wireless communication node () and method therein for generating multicarrier signals by means of backscattering in a wireless communication system () are disclosed. The wireless communication node () comprises a plurality A of antennas () configured to receive a radio frequency. The wireless communication node () further comprises a plurality A of switches (), each switch has a number M of states. The wireless communication node () further comprises a number of impedance matrices (), each impedance matrix comprising a number M of impedances (Z, Z. . . ), each antenna is coupled to one of the impedance matrices () by one of the plurality A switches (). The wireless communication node () further comprises a symbol mapper, a serial to parallel converter and one or more modulators () configured to generate a number A of baseband subcarrier signals based on data symbols () to be transmitted. The wireless communication node () further comprises one or more switch controller () configured to control the states of the plurality A of switches () based on the generated baseband subcarrier signals such that each antenna impedance is selected among the number M of impedances (), and thereby the received RF signal at each antenna is modulated by its specific frequency baseband subcarrier signal. A group of RF subcarrier signals is generated by reflecting the modulated RF signal from each antenna, and thereby the multicarrier signals are generated from the plurality A of antennas ().

Communication node and method for generating multicarrier signals by backscattering

A wireless communication node and method therein for generating beamformed signals by means of backscattering in a wireless communication network are disclosed. The wireless communication node receives a radio frequency signal at a plurality A of antennas. Each antenna is coupled to one of a number of impedance matrices by one of a plurality A of switches. The wireless communication node generates a first baseband signal based on data symbols to be transmitted in a baseband signal generator. The states of each switch are controlled based on its specific switch control signal such that each antenna impedance is selected among a number M of impedances, and thereby the received RF signal at each antenna is modulated by the first baseband signal with its specific phase and reflected. The beamformed signals are generated by the plurality A of antennas by reflecting the modulated RF signals from each antenna.

Communication node and method for generating beamformed signals by backscattering

Disclosed here is a method of a network access point configured to operate in a wireless network. The wireless network comprises at least one wideband channel. The wireless network further comprises one or more wideband terminals configured to transmit and receive in the wideband channel, and one or more narrowband terminals configured to transmit and receive in one or more narrowband channels comprised within the wideband channel. The method comprises initiating a downlink transmission for at least one of the one or more wideband terminals and for a first narrowband terminal and transmitting a preamble over the wideband channel for synchronization of the at least one wideband terminal and the at least one narrowband terminal, wherein a first transmission power of the preamble in a first narrowband channel comprised within the wideband channel is higher than a second transmission power of the preamble in the remainder of the wideband channel not comprising the one or more narrowband channels. The present invention relates to method and arrangement in cellular mobile communication systems, in particular for handling of a physical random access channel for example in a Long Term Evolution communication network. Method and communication device for power savings in chip-to-chip signalling

A radio circuit comprises an interface unit for communicating data and commands over a communication link between a digital baseband circuit and the radio circuit. Furthermore, the radio circuit comprises an event-scheduling unit, a local time-reference unit, a synchronization unit, and an execution-control unit. The event-scheduling unit is arranged to receive event-request commands specifying an event to be executed in the radio circuit and a time instant at which the specified event is to be executed, from the digital baseband circuit. Furthermore, the event-scheduling unit is arranged to, in response to receiving an event request-command, schedule the specified event to be executed on the specified time instant. The execution-control unit is arranged to issue execution of each scheduled event at the scheduled time instant based on time information from the local time reference unit. The local time-reference unit is synchronized with a time-reference unit in the digital baseband circuit in response to a synchronization command, from the synchronization unit.

Event handling in a radio circuit

Embodiments herein include a method implemented by a wireless device for detecting requests to connect to a wireless communications network. The method includes determining a receiver sensitivity that is sufficient, given channel conditions at the device, for the device to detect connection requests. The method then entails dynamically selecting, from among different receiver sensitivity configurations of the device, a configuration that has a receiver sensitivity at least as good as the determined sensitivity and that has less energy consumption than at least one other configuration. Finally, the method includes using the selected configuration for request detection. A wireless device herein thereby reduces its energy consumption when it is disconnected from the network, but intelligently limits the extent of that energy consumption reduction in order to maintain an ability to detect network connection requests.

Energy-efficient detection of network connection requests

Sensing wireless transmissions from a licensed user of a licensed spectral resource includes obtaining information indicating a number of adjacent sensors that are concurrently sensing wireless transmissions from the licensed user of the licensed spectral resource. Such information can be obtained from a main node controlling the sensor and its adjacent sensors, or by the sensor itself (e.g., by means of short-range communication equipment targeting any such adjacent sensors). A sensing rate is then determined as a function, at least in part, of the information indicating the number of adjacent sensors that are concurrently sensing wireless transmissions from the licensed user of the licensed spectral resource. Receiver equipment is then periodically operated at the determined sensing rate, wherein the receiver equipment is configured to detect wireless transmissions from the licensed user of the licensed spectral resource.
