The invention provides a welding electrode useful for reducing nitrogen porosity in a weld. A metallic base having 1.5 to 6 weight percent titanium, balance essentially nickel is used. The resulting deposit has less than 0.5 weight percent titanium to ensure close match of tolerances. A flux is used in combination with the metallic base to control arc behavior, atmosphere content and slag characteristics.

Low porosity welding electrode

A welding flux and welding electrode containing a copper-nickel core is described which results in very low porosity when used in the overhead welding position as well as all other welding positions.

Welding flux and welding electrode

A consumable electrode including a core wire and a coating adapted for welding clad steel products. The resulting weld deposit overcomes the problem of iron dilution which tends to degrade the weld when available electrodes are utilized. Such clad products are often exposed to sulfur and acidified chloride environments.
