A processing head for guiding a laser beam for processing a workpiece includes a housing main body configured to accommodate a beam guiding element. The housing main body has a first main surface section and a second main surface section. The processing head further includes a functional module configured to connect to the housing main body or to be inserted into the housing main body. The first main surface section and the second main surface section of the housing main body are aligned with one another, at least partly surround a free internal volume of the housing main body, and are configured differently from one another for receiving and/or for inserting the functional module and/or a functional component.

A method determines translational and/or rotational deviations between the measurement coordinate system of a measurement mirror scanner and the processing coordinate system of a processing mirror scanner. A measurement beam reflected at a workpiece returns on a path of an incident measurement beam and is captured by a spatially resolving measurement sensor to ascertain spatially resolving information of the workpiece. The reflected measurement beam, in a sensor image of the measurement sensor, is imaged onto a previously known image position. This is accomplished by ascertaining a focal position deviation of the processing beam by scanning with the processing beam, evaluating a laser power detected at grid points, fixing the processing mirror scanner, capturing spatially resolving height information of the pinhole diaphragm by the measurement sensor, and determining a translational deviation between the processing and measurement coordinate systems based on the deviation.

A method for monitoring a laser system including a plurality of laser modules connected in series, there being connected in parallel to each laser module a bypass arrangement for bridging the corresponding laser module, includes determining a first laser power of the laser system with a plurality of laser modules operational; activating the bypass arrangement of at least one laser module so that at least one of the plurality of laser modules is bypassed; determining a second laser power of the laser system with the at least one of the plurality of laser modules bypassed; and monitoring the laser system based on a difference between the first and second laser power.

A device couples a laser beam into a laser light cable having a cable connection for the laser light cable. The device includes a safety element that is operable to move to a safety position only when the laser light cable is properly connected to the cable connection. The coupling device includes an optical arrangement that is controlled by the safety element, and is disposed in the beam path of the laser beam upstream of the cable connection and only directs the laser beam towards the cable connection when the safety element is in the safety position.

To improve a diode laser device comprising at least one laser diode, a power supply for the laser diode, a cooling device including a heat sink with the laser diode disposed thereon, and a coolant supply allowing a coolant to flow through the heat sink, so that simple monitoring of its operation is possible without interfering with use of the diode laser device, it is proposed that an operation monitoring device be provided, and that the operation monitoring device detect a quantity representing the electric current flowing through the laser diode and a quantity representing the temperature of the coolant exiting from the heat sink and determine from these an operational quantity representing operation of the diode laser device.

The invention provides a network system for laser processing, comprising at least two laser devices and a workstation with a laser processing head which can be operated safely. A first light guide leads from the first laser device to a first connection element, associated with which is a first communication connection element connected to the laser controller of the first laser device. A second light guide leads from the second laser device to a second connection element, associated with which is a second communication connection element connected to the laser controller of the second laser device. The laser processing head can be connected to one of the connection elements by a mating connection part. A safety circuit of the workstation ensures that each laser controller releases the shutter switch only if the safety circuit is connected to the communication connection element connected to the respective laser controller.
