Systems and methods for efficient use of unlicensed spectrum are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method performed by a transmitter comprises performing a Listen-Before-Talk (LBT) procedure for a channels within a transmit bandwidth of the transmit node, where the transmit bandwidth is divided into a bandwidth parts that correspond to the channels. The method further comprises transmitting a transmission in a subset of the bandwidth parts that correspond to a subset of the channels determined, based on a result of the LBT procedure, to be available. Transmitting the transmission comprises transmitting the transmission in accordance with a transmit scheme that uses carrier aggregation and/or carrier merging to transmit the transmission on the subset of the bandwidth parts and uses resources in one or more guard bands between two or more adjacent bandwidth parts from among the subset of the bandwidth parts.

Methods for efficient use of unlicensed spectrum

The present disclosure relates to a method of a first radio equipment device () of configuring a fronthaul communication link () established with a second radio equipment device (), and a first radio equipment device () performing the method. In an aspect, a method of a first radio equipment device () of configuring a fronthaul communication link () established with a second radio equipment device () is provided. The method comprises configuring (Sa) the first radio equipment device () to receive data over the fronthaul communication link () at a selected bitrate with a selected communication protocol type, detecting (S) if bitrate of, and communication protocol type used for, data received over the fronthaul communication link () match the selected bitrate and the selected communication protocol type for which the first radio equipment device () is configured to receive data, wherein at least one of the selected bitrate and the selected communication protocol type for which the first radio equipment device () is configured (Sb-Se) to receive data is adjusted (Sb-Se) until a match is detected, and selecting (S) the bitrate and communication protocol type for which there is a match as the bitrate and communication protocol type with which data is communicated over the fronthaul communication link ().

Configuring fronthaul link

There is provided mechanisms for interference aware packet transmission. A method is performed by a radio transceiver device. The method comprises obtaining an estimate of interference in a surrounding of the radio transceiver device. The method comprises determining how many symbols for channel estimation to include in a packet to be transmitted based on amount of estimated interference. The method comprises transmitting the packet towards another radio transceiver device, where the packet comprises the determined amount of symbols for channel estimation.

Interference aware packet transmission

Methods for facilitating positioning determination in a Wi-Fi communication network are disclosed. An example method comprises sending, to a responding communication node, a request to start a position-related determination procedure and information of a first plurality of frequency bands over which the initiating communication node is able to communicate. The method further comprises receiving, from the responding communication node, second information related to a second number of frequency bands over which the responding communication node is able to communicate, and triggering start of the position-related determination procedure based on the received second information so that the position-related determination procedure is performed over at least one of a third number of frequency bands that occurs in both the first plurality of frequency bands and the second number of frequency bands.

Methods and nodes for facilitating positioning determination in a Wi-Fi communication network

A network node is arranged to provide communication at least in an unlicensed band where clear channel assessment, CCA, is required before transmissions. The unlicensed band comprises a plurality of carriers, or sets of carriers, defining channels. The network node is arranged to prepare code block groups comprising code blocks from transport blocks, which transport blocks each comprises a payload intended for a respective receiver, wherein each code block comprises a checksum enabling a hybrid automatic repeat request, HARQ, procedure on a per code block group basis, map the code block groups to a wideband signal comprising a consecutive set of channels on the carriers of the unlicensed band, assess whether the channels, respectively, are clear, and transmit the code block groups mapped on the channels which are clear and omit transmissions of code block groups mapped on channels that are not clear, wherein the assessment and the transmissions are performed within a first time interval, and transmit code blocks groups omitted to be transmitted using the HARQ procedure for retransmission prior receiving a non-acknowledgement, NAK, from a respective receiver of the code block group.

Network node, method and computer program for unlicensed spectrum operation

A wireless communications system and a method for frequency multiplexing a first (LAA) OFDMA transmission and a second (Wi-Fi) OFDMA transmission on a shared radio channel spanning at least partly a common bandwidth. The system determines an unallocated frequency band available beside a first frequency band intended for a first transmission and sends a sharing request comprising information about the unallocated band. The system decides to use the unallocated band in a second frequency band in the shared channel. The system sends a legacy preamble and a first part of a Wi-Fi preamble spanning the shared channel. The first transmission is sent in the first band such that an end time point of the first part of the Wi-Fi preamble coincides with a start time point of the first transmission. Further, the system sends a second part of the Wi-Fi preamble and the second transmission in the second band.

Frequency multiplexing of first and second OFDMA transmissions

Embodiments include methods for an access point to schedule wireless communication devices. Such methods include performing link adaptation by assigning respective modulation and coding schemes (MCS) for the wireless communication devices. Each assigned MCS is associated with a corresponding power back-off. Such methods include scheduling the wireless communication devices on transmission resources based on assignment of the wireless communications devices into two or more groups. Each group is scheduled on different transmission resources than used to schedule other groups. First wireless communication devices assigned a first MCS and a first power back-off are assigned to a first group. Second wireless communications devices assigned a second MCS and a second power back-off, and that meet a grouping criterion associated with the first power back-off, are assigned to the first group until a maximum size for the first group is reached. Other embodiments include access points configured to perform such methods.

Scheduling of wireless communication devices

In one aspect, a transmitting device may frequency-division multiplex a wake-up signature (WUS) targeted to a wake-up receiver (WUR) of a receiving device with user data targeted to a main transceiver of each of one or more other receiving devices into an output signal. The output signal is then transmitted. A receiving device having a WUR and a main transceiver of the receiving device detects, at the WUR, a WUS targeted for the WUR in a received signal. The WUS is frequency-division multiplexed with user data for one or more other receiving devices in the received signal. The receiving device wakes up the main transceiver in response to the detecting.

Efficient concurrent transmission of a wake-up signal and user data

There is provided mechanisms for mitigating interference in a communications network. A method is performed by a network node. The method comprises obtaining a packet. The packet has been wirelessly received in an uplink direction by a transmission and reception point of the network node and from a packet sender. The packet is indicative of scheduled transmission of a further packet within a predefined time interval from the transmission and reception point has wirelessly received the packet. The method comprises determining beamforming weights such that interference caused by transmission from the transmission and reception point of the network node in a downlink direction being reversed to the uplink direction is less than a threshold interference value. The method comprises initiating transmission in at least one beam using the determined beamforming weights. The beamforming weights are used for the transmission at least within the predefined time interval.

Interference mitigation in a communications network

A broadcast signal transmission occurs concurrently with device-specific, directional transmissions but without substantially interfering with the directional transmissions, based on transmitting the broadcast signal in the null spaces of the directional transmissions. Specifically, transmission of the broadcast signal relies on beamforming precoder values formed from one or more orthonormal basis vectors for the null space of a channel estimate matrix representing the channels between a multi-element antenna array and the wireless devices targeted by the device-specific transmissions. The approach concentrates most of the broadcast signal energy for each subcarrier on a single antenna element for good broadcast-signal coverage while still yielding a beamforming solution that substantially avoids broadcast-signal interference at the devices targeted for directional transmission.

Methods and apparatus for signal transmission and reception in a wireless communication network

A network node obtains, via a transmission and reception point (TRP) and from a terminal device not served by the network node, a packet comprising channel state information feedback indicating that a further packet is expected to be transmitted from the TRP on a downlink within a predefined time interval. The network node initiates transmission via the downlink of the TRP responsive to the channel state information feedback such that the transmission interferes with an uplink of the terminal device by less than a threshold amount during the predefined time interval.

Methods and arrangements for determining a next interlace having a next structure to be applied during a next transmission interval in an unlicensed spectrum are disclosed. The next structure is to be applied for a transmission over a wireless interface in a wireless communications network operating in an unlicensed spectrum, wherein a first interlace is applied during transmission in a first transmission interval and wherein the first interlace has a first interlace structure formed by a plurality of physical resource blocks, PRBs, that are arranged with a given subcarrier spacing in one of a set of interlaces. The method includes defining a frequency shift based on the number of PRBs per interlace and a maximum allowed power for a single interlace and determining the next interlace structure by shifting the first interlace structure by the defined frequency shift.

Interlace hopping in unlicensed band

Methods of a wireless communication node are disclosed. The methods are for mitigating interference caused during an upcoming downlink transmission by a second wireless communication access point to a first wireless communication station by one or more second wireless communication stations served by a first (neighboring) wireless communication access point, wherein the first wireless communication station is served by the second wireless communication access point. The one or more second wireless communication stations are adapted to communicate using a second frequency interval and the first wireless communication station is adapted to communicate using a first (smaller) frequency interval, comprised within the second frequency interval. In one aspect, a method of the first wireless communication access point comprises receiving (from the first wireless communication station) an indication signal indicative of the upcoming downlink transmission.
