A system for variable engine compartment ventilation in a slim and compact unit with components used in non-related industries. The system can have at least one bank of movable louvers rotatably mounted within a louver frame for guiding a flow of air into a vehicle engine compartment; a motor to rotate the louvers with a motor gear formed on an output shaft rotatably connected in parallel to at least one helix cable by a helix cable drive gear and a louver pinion gear integral with each louver engaging the helix cable along its length; and a control unit for operating the assembly of movable louvers in response to an output signal from a vehicle communication bus. The output signal of the vehicle communication bus can be in response to input from an engine coolant temperature sensor or a vehicle speed sensor.

Variable vent system integrated into a vehicle front end grill

A composite reinforcement for a vehicle roof opening that provides several advantages over the prior art metal ring design. The reinforcement is a composite bonded to the roof, can be polyurethane, and may include fiberglass, such as long fiber injection (LFI) or glass fiber mat. A honeycomb core can also be disposed within the polyurethane made from cardboard or aluminum. Steel inserts can also be formed within the composite to provide attachment points for a variety of functions, such as sunroof module, structural brackets, and locating assemblies. The steel inserts can have external threads to allow composite material to physically capture the insert during formation of the reinforcement. This roof assembly can be mounted to the vehicle in an optimized manner for ease of assembly, color matching, and to provide structure to support a mounted sunroof assembly.

Composite reinforcement for a roof assembly

A sunroof assembly with a composite water management assembly having side rails with a water trough connected at one end to end caps and to a pair of corners at the other, which connect to a front rail at substantially right angles to the side rails. This composite assembly can be connected by vibration welding. A reinforcement bar can be connected at substantially right angles to the rearward end of vertically oriented slide tracks snap fitted into substantially the length of the side rails. A pair of mirror slide mechanisms with vertically oriented mounts are retained, but free to slide, within a channel of the slide track and outboard of the water trough. A movable panel such as a glass sunroof are attached to the slide mechanism. A sunshade can be added that also combines water shedding ribs to channel water to the water trough.

Modular tilt slide sunroof assembly and method of manufacture

An arrangement and process for conversion of a single panel sunroof into a two panel sunroof uses corner adaptor pieces with planar sides that form an outside corner and a concave inner contour extending between ends of the planar sides, the contour being matched to a rounded corner curvature of a cover panel of a single panel sunroof, such that two such cover panels having corner adaptor pieces thereon can seal relative to the roof opening and relative to each other within the roof opening. A roller blind assembly enables a roller blind to be added by the provision of track inserts for guiding of the roller blind during opening and closing thereof, each of the track inserts being attachable at an inner side of a respective guide track on the sunroof frame.

Arrangement and method for converting of single panel sunroofs into double panel sunroofs and component parts thereof

A cover assembly for a vehicle bed includes track members, support members, a flexible cover, and a reversible motor. The support members are movably arranged on the track members such that (1) movement of a distal one of the support members in the opening or closing direction causes the distal support member to push or pull each of the other support members in a sequential manner in the opening or closing direction. A drive cable is engaged with a gear operatively connected to the motor in intermeshed relation such that (a) rotation of the gear by the motor in a first rotational direction pushes the cable in a distal direction to push the distal support member in the closing direction and (b) rotation of the gear in a second rotation direction pulls the cable in a proximal direction to pull the distal support member in the opening direction.
