Techniques for managing notifications may be described. In an example, the notifications may relate to an item and may be provided to a user device. A passive device may be associated with the item. A delivery management device at a particular location may detect the proximity of the passive device. The delivery management device may cause a notification to be sent to the user device based on the proximity. The notification may describe that the item may have been detected at the particular location.

Managing notifications of a delivery method based on a passive device

Techniques for managing notifications may be described. In an example, the notifications may relate to an item and may be provided to a user device. An active device may be associated with the item. The active device may store a token for communication with a local area network associated with a location. Based on the communication, a determination may be made that the item may be in proximity to the location. Corresponding notifications may be sent to the user device.

Managing notifications of a delivery method based on an active device

Aspects of tag-based product monitoring and evaluation are described. In one embodiment, a system directs a tag reader to interrogate an RFID tag provided on a product package for a product. In response, the system receives a unique identifier, product detail data, and product usage data from the RFID tag. In certain cases, the system can place an order for the product on an electronic commerce platform based on the unique identifier, the product detail data, and the product usage data. For example, the system can identify when the product package was opened with reference to the product usage data, determine that the product is expired based on when the product package was opened, and place the order for the product based on the product being expired.

Tag-based product monitoring and evaluation

In some examples, a reader system is provided for managing inventory items in an inventory system. The reader system may be configured to read tags associated with items stowed in an inventory holder. The inventory holder may be detachably coupled to a mobile drive unit. The mobile drive unit may move the inventory holder to a first position near an antenna of the reader system and the tags may begin to be read. While reading or at other times in the reading process, the mobile drive unit may move the inventory holder relative to the antenna. The identified tags may be compared to a manifest list of items expected to be stowed in the inventory holder.

Management of inventory items

In some examples, a mobile reading device is provided. The mobile reading device may include an movement device and a reader device. The reader device may be configured to read, via one or more antennas, identifying tags associated with items. The one or more antennas may be included as part of the mobile reading device, within a holder structure, or in some other structure or device.

Mobile RFID reading systems

Aspects of tag-based product monitoring and evaluation are described. In one embodiment, a system instructs a tag reader to transmit an electromagnetic field and receives a plurality of unique identifiers for a plurality of products from a plurality of tags in response to the electromagnetic field. The plurality of tags may be provided on a plurality of product packages for the plurality of products. The system also identifies the plurality of products using the plurality of unique identifiers and identifies whether a product package of at least one of the plurality of products has been opened based on the plurality of unique identifiers or the product detail data. The system may alert a user as to whether one or more product packages have been opened before purchasing.

Aspects of tag-based product monitoring and evaluation are described. In one embodiment, an arrangement includes a product package and one or more tags with the product package. At least one of the tags may include a memory that stores a unique identifier, product detail data, and product usage data for the product, a continuity trace that extends across an access covering of the product package, a radio frequency front end configured to be excited by an electromagnetic field, and a tag processor configured to detect a continuity of the continuity trace and identify whether the product package has been opened based on the continuity. When excited in the presence of the electromagnetic field, the tag is configured to transmit a continuity status indicator regarding whether the product package has been opened. In this case, a purchaser may be alerted as to whether the product package has been opened before purchasing.

In some examples, an autonomous mobile reading device is provided. The autonomous mobile reading device may include an autonomous movement device and a radio-frequency identification (RFID) reader. The RFID reader may be configured to read, via one or more antennas, RFID tags associated with inventory items. The one or more antennas may be included as part of the autonomous mobile reading device, within an inventory holder, or in some other structure or device.
