The present disclosure presents a method and an apparatus for packet filtering to save power at a user equipment (UE). For example, the disclosure presents a method for receiving a packet filtering configuration message, at a modem processor (MP) of the UE, from an application processor (AP) in communication with the MP, wherein the packet filtering configuration message includes one or more packet filtering rules for filtering packets associated with one or more applications, configuring a packet filter at the MP based at least on the one or more packet filtering rules received in the packet filtering configuration message, and enabling the configured packet filter at the MP in response to receiving an indication from the AP that the AP entered a low power or sleep mode, wherein the enabled packet filter allows or drops a packet based on the packet filtering rules. As such, packet filtering to save power at UE may be achieved.

Methods, systems, and devices are described for determining a quality estimation of a wireless network that may be used to determine whether a particular wireless network meets one or more criteria for association with a station. The quality estimation may be based on a load quality of a basic service set (BSS) of an available wireless network and/or one or more wide area network (WAN) metrics associated with the wireless network. A station may evaluate such load quality and WAN metrics prior to association, and/or after association with a wireless network.

Apparatus and methods for power management in a wireless communication device include detecting a change in a serving cell for data communication from a first cell to a second cell; determining whether a terminal equipment (TE) is in a low power state; detecting a first technology type of the first cell and a second technology type of the second cell; determining whether the second technology type is a different technology mode than the first technology type; sending a cell change notification to a data processor associated with the TE when the second technology type is in the different technology mode than the first technology type and the TE is not in a low power state; and suppressing the sending of the cell change notification when the second technology type is not in the different technology mode and the TE is in the low power state.

Apparatus and methods for enhanced user equipment power management via controlled cell change notifications

The various aspects include methods and apparatus that enable processors within a multi-processor computing device to automatically discover each other and to configure themselves to interoperate utilizing at least two agents in a scalable inter-processor communication protocol. A dynamic method of advertising capabilities of processors uses a scalable communication format that can be discover and linked to each processor to enable sharing of processing resources. To enable processor-discovery, each processor may be configured with a foreign agent, a local agent and a service daemon software program that facilitates processor auto-discovery and auto-configuration. Advertising and capabilities messages between processors in the same device may use the QMI protocol format. The advertised capabilities may include information regarding processor identification, transport type, port, technology, services and resources. The method may enable processors to automatically configuring themselves to work with or utilize the capabilities of the other discovered peer processors.
