Methods and dispersing agents for dispersing a polymeric low dose hydrate inhibitor are disclosed. More specifically, the method comprises contacting an aqueous fluid containing a polymeric low dose hydrate inhibitor with a dispersing agent. The dispersing agent can be selected from the group consisting of a C-Calkyl sulfate, a C-Calkyl ether sulfate, a C-Ccarbonyl sarcosinate, a C-Calkylbenezene sulfonate, a quaternary-ammonium based corrosion inhibitor, a glycol ether, and a combination thereof.

A continuous inverse emulsion polymerization process may involve combining an aqueous monomer composition with an oil composition in a premix vessel and allowing the aqueous monomer composition to interact with the oil composition in the premix vessel for a period of time effective to form a stable pre-emulsion. The stable pre-emulsion may then be homogenized to form a homogenized emulsion that is then polymerized to form a water-in-oil inverse emulsion polymer. By forming a stable pre-emulsion that is then homogenized, the resulting water-in-oil inverse emulsion polymer may have uniform and consistent polymer size distribution.

Disclosed herein is a method of reducing the vapor pressure of a processed crude oil, wherein such vapor pressure reduction is sufficient to allow safe transportation of the oil. After high-pressure processing for off gassing and subsequent low-pressure separation of water, a processed crude oil may still have sufficient vapor pressure to create hazardous conditions if the oil is transported. This disclosure reports that as little as 10 ppb of certain siloxane polymers applied to such processed crude oils results in treated oils with reduced vapor pressure. Vapor pressure reduction is typically about 1 psi to 10 psi after the application of the disclosed siloxane polymers.

Methods of treating hydrocarbon fluids to reduce the apparent viscosity of hydrocarbon fluids encountered in petroleum operations and reducing deposits within a well annulus or a pipeline are disclosed. The method comprises contacting such fluids with a hydrophobically modified polysaccharide to create water external emulsions. The disclosed hydrophobically modified polysaccharides have been demonstrated to reduce interfacial tension to below 65 mN/m and thereby improve the transportability of inherently viscous hydrocarbon fluids, such as heavy crude oils.
