A method for restoring a vehicle headlight lens by removing contaminants begins with wiping the lens surface of a vehicle headlight clean. An alcohol-saturated cleaning substance is used to remove debris and pollution from the surface. The alcohol is specifically selected to also remove moisture from the surface of the lens to the greatest extent possible. For optimal cleaning conditions the headlight is heated either by illumination or direct sunlight to a temperature of about 70 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit. A lens restoration solution that includes a dissolving chemical compound such as acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, cyclohexanone and/or tetrahydrofuran is applied to the lens surface, either with an applicator or by spraying. After the lens surface has been restored to a smooth, transparent condition, and adequately hardened, a UV protectant is applied to maintain the lens surface.

Method and kit for restoring a vehicle headlight lens

A connector connects the ends of two fluid lines, it is useful for connecting and sealing the ends of refrigerant lines in an automotive air conditioner. A resilient seal is disposed about the end of a fluid line within each end of the passageway and a combination slotted ferrule and sealing ring member formed with a sealing ring portion and a ferrule portion is captured between the seal and a compression nut treaded onto the end of the body. When the nut is tightened onto the end, it causes the ferrule portion to deform and collapse inwardly to grasp and hold the fluid line securely in place and simultaneously drives the sealing ring portion against the seal to compress the seal, which expands to form a fluid-tight seal around the end of the fluid line.

Fluid line connector

A method of installing a removable inlet port filter plate having a replaceable filter between a compressor inlet port and a suction hose assembly is taught. The inlet port filter plate includes a main body and mounting surfaces for attachment between the compressor and the suction hose assembly or between the compressor and the compressor hose block. The main body defines a passage that allows for refrigerant flow through a filter which is positioned in the passage. In one preferred embodiment the diameter of the filter is greater than the inside diameter of the compressor inlet port. In another preferred embodiment the diameter of the filter is greater than the inside diameter of the suction hose assembly outlet port.

Method of installing and renewing an inlet port plate filter in the low pressure side of an automotive air conditioning system

Debris is filtered from refrigerant in a refrigerant system by: (1) installing a filtration apparatus in the high pressure side of a refrigerant system, the apparatus comprising a filtration housing having primary and secondary passages, a primary filter disposed in the primary passage, and a diverter means for selectively directing refrigerant flow through either the primary or the secondary circuit passages; (2) directing refrigerant flow through the primary circuit passage; (3) operating the refrigerant system until a shifting parameter is obtained; and (4) operating the diverter means so as to direct refrigerant flow to the secondary circuit passage. Optionally, a secondary filter is disposed in the secondary filter channel. In alternate methods, the shifting parameter comprises one of: elapsed time of operation of the system; selected differential pressure across the primary filter; or a selected compressor discharge pressure above said normal compressor discharge pressure.

Method of filtering debris from refrigerant

An inlet port filter plate for attachment between a compressor inlet port and a suction hose assembly. The inlet port filter plate includes a main body and mounting surfaces for attachment between the compressor and the suction hose assembly or between the compressor and the compressor hose block. The main body defines a passage that allows for refrigerant flow through a filter which is positioned in the passage. The filter is adapted to stop debris in the refrigerant flow.
