Methods and systems for hydraulic actuation of axle system components are provided. A hydraulic system in an electric axle, is provided in one example, which includes a housing with a plurality of sections that enclose an electric motor and a gearbox, the system further includes a hydraulic pump that is coupled to the housing and configured to supply pressurized fluid to a solenoid valve through a plurality of fluid passages. The hydraulic system further includes a clutch in the gearbox configured to receive the pressurized fluid from the solenoid valve through a hydraulic passage internally routed through the housing.

Methods and systems are provided for an electrical harness. In one example, the electrical harness may include a first conductor coupled to a second conductor by a coupler where the conductors may be formed of plates arranged in parallel along a length of the first and the second conductors. The coupler may include electrical bridges of varying dimensions to maintain electrical continuity between the first conductor and the second conductor through the coupler.

In a first embodiment, at a time of magnetic pulse welding, a stepped tube profile machining process axially bores a walled tube from an end inward to a transition depth to form a section with a reduced wall thickness and then axially bores the walled tube from the transition depth to a fall off depth, thereby forming a section with a maximized welding wall section. In a second embodiment, also at a time of magnetic pulse welding, a surface angle tube profile machining process axially bores at a surface angle a walled tube from an end to a bore length to form an angular welding wall thickness inward to a maximized wall section. For both embodiments, the bored surfaces are virgin with no pits, oil, residue, or oxidation thereon, thus making the machined walled tubes available for immediate magnetic pulse welding.

The first communication interface is coupled with the processing device and is arranged to communicate with a wireless communication network. One or more embodiments of the present invention disclose a system and method for enhancing the communication capabilities of a personal electronic device by modifying its existing battery module, adding communication circuitry to the modified module, and providing for the personal device to communicate in a Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) via this modified battery module. The system and method consists of a personal device's existing battery pack modified to contain one or more wireless communication circuits, the wireless communication circuitry included in the modified battery module, and the method by which the personal device will communicate to the WWAN using the modified battery module. The system can also be used to re-distribute WWAN communication from the modified battery module, to one or more external personal devices, using near-field communications.

A system for quantifying or assigning values to habitats and/or species occurring within a geographic site. In one implementation, for example, a baseline habitat value is assigned to a geographic site prior to the performance of a proposed activity impacting the site, such as development or construction. The baseline habitat value is based at least in part on the specific types of habitats found in the site, the number of species found in the site, and the key ecological functions associated with each species. The baseline habitat value can be adjusted to account for the potential presence of invasive plant species within the site. A future habitat value for the site following the performance of the activity also can be determined. A debit value associated with the proposed activity can be determined by subtracting the future habitat value from the baseline habitat value.
