The workpiece () is able to be passed between the coils () and is thereby inductively heated by cross-field heating. A housing () arranged next to, below or above the working field (). The converter () and capacitor bank () are arranged in the housing (). The coils () are each electrically connected to the capacitor bank () by a flexible cable (). The cable () is a coaxial cable (), with one phase of the alternating voltage applied to an inner conductor () and the other phase of the alternating voltage applied to an outer conductor () of the coaxial cable (). The cables () are cooled by a fluid, such as air or water ().

Device for the inductive heating of a workpiece in a rolling mill

A heating device and a method for the inductive heating of a flat steel strip in a hot rolling mill. The heating device is between two rolling trains of the hot rolling mill and the flat steel strip runs at a speed through the heating device in a transporting direction. The heating device includes: transverse-field modules arranged one after the other along the transporting direction of the flat steel strip; longitudinal-field modules arranged one after the other along the transporting direction of the flat steel strip and arranged before or after the transverse-field modules along the transporting direction; a first power supply supplying at least one transverse-field module with a first alternating voltage; and a second power supply supplying at least one longitudinal-field module with a second alternating voltage. The power supplies have a converter and an electrically connected capacitor bank with multiple capacitors connected in parallel.

A method for operating a combined casting/rolling installation: A casting machine () of the combined installation () produces a cast product () and a rolling mill () of the installation () produces a rolled product () from the cast product (). The installation () has a control device () with a measuring unit () and a controller (). The measuring unit () detects a rolled-product property, generates a measurement signal dependent on that property and transmits the measurement signal to the controller (), and the controller () uses the measurement signal to generate a control signal for the casting machine () based on a control algorithm and transmits the control signal to the casting machine () which uses the control signal to set a casting parameter. The detected rolled-product property is a temperature profile of the rolled product () in the width direction thereof and the casting parameter that is set by the casting machine () using the control signal is a cooling parameter of the casting machine ().

A method and device for producing hot-rolled products in a combined continuous casting and rolling system includes a device for separating and removing. In order to overcome a disruption in production in a part of the system located downstream of the device for separating and removing, the method includes: (a) separating the endlessly produced precursor material into a strand portion with shears; (b) clamping the strand portion; (c) raising the trailing part of the strand portion from the roller table by a raising device, so that the strand portion is drawn away from the shears in the direction of transport; (d) cutting the precursor material into a precursor material portion with the shears; (e) removing the precursor material portion from the roller table, and removing the strand portion until the combined continuous casting and rolling system is ready to operate again.
