A power-amplifier arrangement () is disclosed. The power-amplifier arrangement () comprises a pulse modulator () adapted to receive a digital input signal of the power-amplifier arrangement () and generate, based on the digital input signal of the power-amplifier arrangement (), an output signal of the pulse modulator () with a plurality of quantization levels. The pulse modulator has a plurality of output ports (-_n) for representing the output signal of the pulse modulator (). Each output port (-_n) of the pulse modulator () is associated with a unique one of the quantization levels such that a signal output on the output port (-_n) adopts a first state when the output signal of the pulse modulator () equals or exceeds the associated quantization level, or, otherwise, a second state. A related radio-transmitter circuit and a related radio-communication apparatus are also disclosed.

Power-amplifier arrangement

The present invention concerns an amplifying device arranged to receive an input signal having a certain duty cycle. The amplifying device comprise a first switching unit having an input terminal adapted to receive a first half of the input signal, and an output terminal adapted to be connected to a first signal output where a first half of an output signal is provided. The amplifying device comprise a second switching unit having an input terminal adapted to receive a second half of the input signal and an output terminal adapted to be connected to a second signal output where a second half of the output signal is provided. Also, the first switching unit and the second switching units are adapted to receive an input signal, wherein the first half of said input signal has the same duty cycle as the second half of the input signal but shifted in phase. The present invention also concerns a wireless transceiver and a radio transmission device.

Amplifying device

The present invention relates to methods and devices to control and operate the functionality of a power amplifier system () capable of operating in at least three differential amplification modes. The drive signal's amplitude envelope controls an integrated switch network () that routes both the signal envelope and signal phase to different modulation blocks (). Depending on the envelope strength, the operational mode of the amplifier system is possible to alter to best serve the signal statistics to provide the highest overall power efficiency.

Dynamic range improvements of load modulated amplifiers

The present invention addresses the problem to extend the dynamic power range where the amplifier operates linearly for a full input amplitude swing with improved efficiency. According to the present invention, the above presented problem is solved by changing the delivered power to the load by changing the value of the load and still keeping the amplifier in its linear condition. The invention enables the amplifier to maintain high efficiency over a wider power range.

High efficiency linear power amplifiers with load compensation

Switch-modulation of a radio-frequency power amplifier by-representing the input signal by the I-signal () and Q-signal () of the complex components (I+j&#x2212;Q), and pulse width modulating the I-signal and the Q-signal separately to create a modulated I-signal pulse sequence () and a modulated Q-signal pulse sequence (). Further, the pulses corresponding to negative sample values are time-shifted relative the pulses corresponding to positive sample values, and each pulse of the I-signal pulse sequence is delayed by introducing a delaying time shift.

Switched modulation of a radio-frequency amplifier

The present invention relates to balanced power amplifier network in combination with outphasing techniques such as Chireix. The object of the present invention is to provide a solution to the problem to combine balanced amplifiers like the current mode class D (CMCD) or class E/F with a LINC network. The main problem is that some power amplifiers have balanced output and the LINC network is single-ended so that a high power low loss transformer that works at several impedance levels is needed, which is hard to realize at cellular frequencies.
