Methods and apparatus for maintaining connectivity with an Internet protocol (IP) phone operating behind a firewall are disclosed. An example method disclosed herein comprises registering the IP phone in response to receiving a first registration request from the IP phone, the first registration request including first registration information, the first registration information including a first public IP address associated with the firewall, storing the first registration information, reregistering the IP phone in response to receiving a second registration request from the IP phone, the second registration request including second registration information, the second registration information including a second public IP address associated with the firewall, the second public IP address different from the first public IP address, and reverting to the stored first registration information to process calls associated with the IP phone.

Methods and apparatus for maintaining connectivity with an internet protocol phone operating behind a firewall

A data messaging system includes a first Internet Protocol (IP) switch that includes a processor. The data messaging system also includes a first gateserver coupled to the first IP switch and coupled to a second IP switch. The data messaging system includes a second gateserver that is coupled to the first IP switch and to the second IP switch. The data messaging system further includes a first gatekeeper coupled to the first IP switch. The first gatekeeper is adapted to detect a failure of the first gateserver and to route data to the second gateserver in response to detecting the failure.

Data and voice messaging system

The present invention is an Advanced Intelligent Network (AIN) based system and method that allows a subscriber connected to the Internet via a dial-up connection to receive caller identification information concerning an incoming telephone call. The information may be provided via a pop-up dialog box on the subscriber's display, which includes but is not limited to a monitor of a personal computer (PC). The information displayed to the subscriber includes the name and number of the calling party, if available. In addition, several disposition options are presented to the subscriber solely via the Internet which, upon selection, determine the handling of the incoming call.

Internet caller identification system and method

Systems and methods of controlling a messaging system are provided. A particular method includes generating an n-times-use network address to access a control interface in response to receipt of a message addressed to a subscriber at a messaging system. The method further includes determining a notification address associated with the subscriber and generating a notification message addressed to the notification address. The notification message includes at least a portion of content of the message and the n-times-uses network address. The n-times-use network address is selectable a predetermined number of times at a browser application to send a control message to the control interface to control disposition of the message.

System and method of controlling a messaging system

A connection between an external host and a host internal to a network (e.g., VPN or LAN) and located behind a firewall and/or NAT-enabled device is established and maintained. A dynamic DNS server is updated with the remote location (RL) information associated with the internal host. This information includes the dialed number (i.e. the number assigned to the internal host), the physical address of the internal host, the private IP address corresponding to the internal host, the public IP address corresponding to the firewall, and the port on which voice data is to be communicated. Each time the internal host's location changes, a new and updated record is sent to the dynamic DNS server. The call placed by an external host reaches its final destination based on the record information in the DNS server table. Once the connection between the external host and the internal host is established, voice traffic is 'cut-through' the firewall on this channel associate with the port designated by the RL record.

Remote location VOIP roaming behind firewalls

A system daemon starts through normal system startup procedures and reads its configuration file to determine which data entities (e.g., directories and files) are to be monitored. The monitoring includes a valid MD5 signature, correct permissions, ownership of the file, and an existence of the file. If any modification are made to the data entities, then the system daemon generates an alarm (intended for the administrator of the host) that an intrusion has taken place. Once an intrusion is detected, then the isolating steps or commands are issued in a real-time continuous manner to protect the host system from attack or intrusion.

A communications services network platform has a multi-layered software architecture residing on a host computer. The network platform connects to a communications network and includes a call processing stack, a link layer, and a service support subsystem. The call processing stack implements call processing by processing events associated with a communication path through the communications network and has an application layer, representing each active call being processed by the call processing stack, and a resource layer, including software abstractions of physical resources located outside the host computer. The link layer manages a communications link between physically connected physical resources and the call processing stack. The service support subsystem executes services requested by the call processing stack. The platform manages and controls communications events associated with the communication path to complete a request for services between nodes on the communication network.

Flexible network platform and call processing system

A messaging system is disclosed that includes an Internet Protocol switching network, an Internet access subsystem coupled to the Internet Protocol switching network via a first communication link, a voice access subsystem coupled to the Internet Protocol switching network via a second communication link, a mail subsystem coupled to the Internet Protocol switching network via a third communication link, and a storage subsystem coupled to the Internet Protocol switching network. The first and second communication links transfer data according to different data protocol formats.

A system and method include implementing and accessing a subscriber's telecommunications services, using a graphical user interface (GUI) via the Internet, and an interactive voice response (IVR) system via the public switched telecommunications network (PSTN). The system and method enable a subscriber to review, schedule and modify call forwarding information stored and implemented by a service control point (SCP) through a common server from any dual tone multi-frequency (DTMF) telephone and IVR system via the PSTN or any GUI and Web client via the Internet. The subscriber is able to build and edit call forwarding data, such as a scheduler and priority and rejection screening lists, by the GUI via the Internet for subsequent implementation.

System and method for implementing and accessing call forwarding services

An automobile's maintenance port is wirelessly connected (for example, via an IEEE 802.11-based connection) to a plurality of gateways/routers that forward automobile diagnostic data (such as a series of diagnostic codes) to a server. Each gateway interfaces with two networks&#x2014;a first wireless network for wireless communications with an automobile and a second network to communicate with the server. The server implements computer readable program code that aids in receiving forwarded automobile diagnostic data and analyzing the data to identify malfunctions. The server sends the analyzed data or a report based on the analyzed data to a subscriber-defined location (e.g., a PC with access to the Internet). Alternatively, the server can render an indication in the automobile to inform a user that the generated report is ready for electronic retrieval.

A feature for a mobile station, wireless network, and method of operating a wireless network for locating a misplaced mobile station and preventing its unauthorized use. The preferred embodiments described herein provide a method and system for calling line authenticated key distribution. In one preferred embodiment, an authentication key is provided to a calling party if the calling party is phoning from a calling line associated with an authorized user. This preferred embodiment provides a more secure authentication key distribution method as compared to the prior art since preventing an unauthorized user from gaining access to an authorized user's calling line is more feasible and reliable than attempting to prevent an unauthorized user from obtaining an authorized user's password. Other preferred embodiments are provided, and each of the preferred embodiments described herein can be used alone or in combination with one another.

Method and system for calling line authenticated key distribution

An automobile's maintenance port is wirelessly connected (for example, via an IEEE 802.11-based connection) to a plurality of gateways/routers that forward automobile diagnostic data (such as a series of diagnostic codes) to a network analyzer server. The network analyzer server offers subscribers a service providing analysis of the received diagnostic data, wherein such analyzed information is transmitted to one or more predetermined locations (such as to a personal computer of the subscriber or a mechanic's diagnostic device at a service station). Thus, homeowners and garages receive the same data and the system eliminates the need for garages to purchase expensive engine analyzers.
