Certain embodiments facilitate developing an application using a client-side object model to data source mapping. This may involve defining data use on the client side of the application in various ways that simplify the development necessary to implement data access features. In certain embodiments, data access and synchronization between a client and a data source is accomplished by configuring the client to map to a set of remote procedure call operations for a given data source. For example, the user may implement or confirm update, create, delete, and retrieve function calls for a given data source such that the application can implement data access and updating using those functions. Embodiments use persistent object identifiers, change logs, and/or data bindings in a client to provide various features and benefits. Certain embodiments also facilitate conflict resolution, demand paging, and lazy loading.

Systems and methods for facilitating the development of an application that accesses data

A runtime environment can access code data defining an application comprising a persistent component comprising code for a user interface element and referencing a navigation action, a location loader, and a plurality of location components. Each location component can comprise executable code for child contents for providing a respective view of the application. A first view of the application can be provided by loading code of a first location component into memory via the location loader and executing code of the child contents of the first location component via the runtime environment. In response to receiving a navigation command via the user interface element, a second view of the application can be provided by loading code of a second location component into memory and executing code of the child contents of the second location component via the runtime environment. The code of the first location component may be removed from memory after the navigation command is received.

Location-based application development for runtime environments

An application development tool can support sampling of data from one or more providers of data that will be queried by the application under development at runtime. The sampling results can be used to provide hints or suggestions at development time so that a developer defining code segments that make reference to data resulting from such queries can produce code segments having the proper context to reference the data of interest. The sampling results can comprise a plurality of parameters and the application development tool can provide a user interface whereby a user can indicate custom type declarations for the returned parameters and/or identify a subset of the parameters returned by a query as being of interest. The custom type declarations and/or identified subset can be used to facilitate more meaningful hinting or suggestion by the application development tool.
