A broadside () for the broadside of a funnel mold for the casting of metal. Known broadsides of this kind have at least one groove-shaped cooling channel () in the backside (R) of the broadside. Adjacent the cooling channel () on the backside of the broadside, recesses (A, . . . , A) are provided as well as filler elements (-, . . . , -) for the at least partial sealing of the recesses. In order to constructively simplify the broadside in view of the adjustment of a generally constant flow rate of a cooling medium through the cooling channel, it is proposed to design the recesses (A, . . . , A) in such a way, that they cross the cooling channel () diagonally to its longitudinal direction. Moreover, the recesses (A, . . . , A) are in their expansion in longitudinal direction of the cooling channel confined to a section of the cooling channel, and in this direction they have a rectangular-shaped and/or wedge-shaped cross-section, so that the depth of the cooling channel () in the broadside () in the area of the crossing recesses (A, . . . , A) changes step-like and/or linearly and is filled with corresponding filler elements.

Wide side of a funnel mold

A device for the support and oscillation of a continuous casting mould () for casting liquid metal, particularly liquid steel, comprising guide elements () which are mounted on fixed carrier components () and which is actually by means of oscillation devices (). In order to shorten time required for mounting and dismounting and therefor to lower the down times and costs of said continuous casting device, a first module () is made of guide elements () and carrier components () and a second module () consists of the oscillation device (). The second module () can be dismantled via an outlet () which extends laterally, perpendicular to the plane of symmetry () below the guide elements () or in between guide elements (). Each of the two modules () can be dismounted or re-mounted in a manner which is temporally and locally independent from the other respective module ().

Device for the support and oscillation of a continuous casting mould for casting liquid metal, particularly liquid steel

A continuous-casting mold having two broad-side walls carrying the mold-forming plates which are preferably of copper and clamp the narrow side wall members between them. The entire assembly is received in an outer frame which is shape stable and hence rigid so as to take up all forces which arise in adjustment of the plates as clamping forces and as thermal forces from, for example, thermal expansion of the mold members.
