Methods and systems for managing performance of workloads are disclosed. The performance of the workloads may be managed by choosing a data storage device for the performance of a workload. The data storage device may be chosen by selecting the data storage of data storage devices with a highest reliability prediction. The reliability prediction of the data storage device may be a likelihood of the data storage device of a data processing system to retain the data while performing the workload. The data processing system may be chosen by selecting the data processing system of data processing systems with the highest reliability prediction. The reliability prediction of the data processing system may be a weighted sum of reliability predictions and weights of the data storage devices.

Described herein are systems and methods for providing stateless management and storage system resource limitation of tenants of a container orchestration system, such as Kubernetes clusters in a Kubernetes orchestration system. The storage system resources accessible by the tenants are determined. Role-based Access Control (RBAC) and Quality of Service (QoS) limits of the tenants are defined and stored as files in a repository accessed by an authorization proxy server. The authorization proxy server through the files, verifies and authorizing the tenants to access the storage system resources.

Techniques for obfuscating and/or de-obfuscating data using bit-level shard masks are disclosed. Shard masks are generated. The shard masks are designed to shard a block of data into a number of shards for distribution and storage among a number of storage arrays. The shard masks shard the block of data at a bit-level granularity. The shard masks are applied to the block of data to generate the shards. The shards are then distributed among the storage arrays for storage on the storage arrays.

The configuration of the of the container-based application is determined and copied to an intermediate object storage. Depending on the replication compatibility of source array backing the source cluster and the target array backing the target cluster either a replication engine or data mover are used to move data. Configuration of the container-based application in the common storage is copied and stored to the target cluster. The target cluster is used to restore the container-based application.

Embodiments of a method for providing cluster-wide, application consistent operations in a distributed network by creating a single volume snapshot object on a server for all of volumes of a distributed application. A snapshot controller creates volume snapshot content for each volume, and an external snapshot process, upon creation of the volume snapshot content, creates a snapshot of each volume on a backend storage device, wherein all snapshots for each volume are created at the same time to ensure consistency across all volumes being snapshotted at a certain moment.

For example, a method manages, via a virtual container storage interface controller, a generic mapping for one or more container storage attributes for a set of storage specific container storage interface drivers respectively associated with a set of storage arrays of a storage system so as to isolate an application program, executing on a host device accessing one or more storage volumes stored on the set of storage arrays, from the set of storage specific container storage interface drivers. For example, the isolation can provide a layer of abstraction for application specific handles from the actual underlying storage and then enable use of the abstraction to provide services such as, but not limited to, seamless data mobility.

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to enabling storage array-based remote replication from containerized applications operating on one or more node clusters. In embodiments, a host executing one or more operations from a node cluster is provided an interface (e.g., an application programming interface (API)) to a storage array. Additionally, the host can be delivered resources to manage and monitor the storage array to perform one or more data replication services directly from the node cluster and via the interface. Further, data replications services are triggered in response to instructions issued by the host directly from the node cluster and via the interface.

For example, a method obtains a copy of an application program, wherein the copy of the application program is a copy generated for a first cluster of a container-based information processing system within which the application program is deployed. Techniques for managing node failures in container environments are disclosed. In one example, a method determines when a first node executing at least one containerized workload has failed. In response to determining the first node has failed, the method marks a configuration object for the first node with an indicator that the first node is not to be used to schedule execution of a subsequent containerized workload, isolates from the first node one or more storage volumes used by the first node, and deletes configuration objects for the one or more storage volumes and for the containerized workload. The method then causes creation of a replacement containerized workload for execution on a second node, removes one or more artifacts associated with the containerized workload from the first node, and removes the indicator from the configuration object for the first node.

A separate subscriber-managed nanoservice is implemented for each object instance. Each subscriber-managed nanoservice includes a first function that adds requests to update state of an object instance to a FIFO queue and provides a lock to only one subscriber thread at a time. Each subscriber-managed nanoservice includes a second function that combines queued requests and performs object instance state updates response to calls from the lock-holding subscriber thread. Each subscriber-managed nanoservice functions independently so multiple instances of an object can be contemporaneously updated. Further, it is not necessary to have a dedicated thread for management of each object instance because the subscriber threads call the functions.
