A system comprises a storage device, a piece of medical equipment, a portable computing device, and a hub portal. The piece of medical equipment has at least one electrically powered feature and comprises either a medical examination table or a storage cabinet. The storage device is operable to store data and is remotely located relative to the first piece of medical equipment and relative to the portable computing device. The hub portal is operable to provide communication of one or both of data or commands between the storage device, the piece of medical equipment, and the portable computing device. A method includes enablement or activation of an electrically powered feature of medical equipment upon entry of a portable computing device into a medical examination room. The method also includes disablement or further activation of the electrically powered feature upon exit of the portable computing device from the medical examination room.

Electronic ecosystem for medical examination room

A light is provided having a base unit, an arm extending from the base unit, and a lamp head coupled to the arm. The lamp head includes an LED configured to provide light based on an input drive current, an optical mixing element configured to collect the light produced by the LED and a zoom lens configured to adjust an output size of a spot generated by the light collected in the mixing element. A controller receives DC power from the base unit through the arm. The controller is configured to set the input drive current for the LED to control an output light density of the spot in response to an operator selected input and configured to adjust the output light density of the spot in response to a change in the size of the spot.

An apparatus, method and program product position a powered examination chair at a constant, desired speed despite fluctuations line voltage. A power signal supplied to an actuating motor of the chair is apportioned according to the line voltage supplied to the chair. The desired speed may be customized by a user in the field.

An apparatus, method and program product gradually and automatically accelerates or decelerates chair motor speed to achieve a smooth, nearly imperceptable movement of the chair. To this end, voltage is apportioned to the motor according to an acceleration profile.

An apparatus and method positions a powered examination chair at a constant, desired speed. The desired speed is achieved irrespective of patient weight and/or direction of chair travel. A power signal supplied to an actuating motor is apportioned according to a load incident on the chair. The determined load accounts for patient weight, as well as to gravitational and mechanical forces.
