Apparatus for transmitting electrical energy with a superconducting current carrier, in which the superconducting current carrier to be cooled is accommodated in a first cooling channel, which first cooling channel is connected by way of a coolant feed line to a supply device for a first cooling medium and is surrounded by at least one second cooling channel, for conducting through a second cooling medium, which is flow-connected to a coolant-discharge line for heated second cooling medium, wherein a supercooled, liquefied gas is used as the first cooling medium, is characterized according to the invention in that a liquefied gas is used as the second cooling medium and the second cooling channel is equipped with means for removing a gas phase occurring due to evaporation of the second cooling medium.

Apparatus for transmitting electrical energy with a superconducting current carrier

For the transmission of electrical current, determined superconducting current carriers are accommodated in a cryostat, in which they are cooled with an undercooled cryogenic cooling medium, e.g. liquid nitrogen. The current carrier is electrically connected at the ends thereof to two normally conducting current supply means. The cooling medium is undercooled from a storage container to a temperature below its boiling temperature and supplied to the cryostat via a cooling medium inlet, brought into thermal contact with the superconducting current carrier, and subsequently discharged via a cooling medium outlet of the cryostat. According to the invention, the cooling medium from the cryostat is to be used for cooling at least one of the normally conducting current supply means.

Method and device for cooling a superconducting current carrier

The disclosure relates to a device for improving a vacuum in the housing of a machine, in particular a centrifugal-mass energy store, comprising a rotor, for example a shaft having a centrifugal mass arranged thereon, which rotor is supported on at least one superconducting bearing in a contactless manner and is arranged in a vacuum container. In order to maintain the operating state of the superconducting bearing, the superconducting bearing is thermally connected to a cold source cooled by a cryogenic medium. According to the invention, the vacuum in the vacuum container is improved by means of an adsorber thermally connected to a cooling apparatus. The cooling of the adsorber occurs preferably by means of evaporated cooling medium from the superconducting bearing.

Device for improving the vacuum in the housing of a machine

A super-cooled liquid medium, preferably super-cooled liquid nitrogen, is pumped through a sub-cooler and cooled by the same medium that evaporates in the vacuum. This super-cooled nitrogen is used as coolant for a consumer. If a small amount of heat is emitted by the consumer to the nitrogen, the liquid medium can be guided in the circuit wherein the sub-cooler is arranged. For compensating volume fluctuations, such a circuit requires a compensation vessel, which is very expensive and can only be operated in the presence of a super-cooled medium when either a part of the medium is heated using external energy, or an inert gas which boils at very low temperatures is used as a pressure compensation medium. According to the disclosure, when a supply container for the liquid medium is integrated into the cooling circuit and used as a compensation vessel, a separate compensation vessel is not required.

Device for cooling a consumer with a super-cooled liquid in a cooling circuit

The subject matter of the invention is a method for purifying a foreign-substance-laden gas flow of the foreign substance, with the gas flow being conducted through a heat exchanger and being placed in thermal contact with a cooling medium in order to freeze and/or condense the foreign substance out, wherein the purification takes place in only one tube heat exchanger, through the interior space of which the gas flow is conducted from a first end region to a second end region, and here, is cooled by means of contact with a first group of tubes which are traversed by the coolant, and in that the gas flow, in the second end region, is directly deflected again and is conducted back through the interior space of the heat exchanger to the first end region through a second group of tubes while undergoing an exchange of heat with the gas flow flowing into the interior space. A corresponding device has a heat exchanger having at least two groups of tubes which run through an interior space of the heat exchanger from a first end region to a second end region of the heat exchanger, with it being possible for the gas flow to traverse the interior space of the heat exchanger from a gas flow inlet at the first end region to the second end region, and with a first group of the tubes being part of a substantially closed cooling medium circuit, and a second group of the tubes for recirculating the gas flow from the second end region of the heat exchanger being connected to a purified gas outlet in the first end region. In order to further reduce the operating temperature in the second end region, it is possible for additional cooling medium to be injected into the cooling medium circuit upstream of said second end region. It is even possible for the injection to take place by means of an injector, which then replaces a pump and cooler.

Method and device for gas purification by means of partial condensation, and method for operating the device

The recovery of solvents from waste gases takes place according to the state of the art by condensation, freezing out or desublimation of the solvent in recuperative cold reservoirs which can be switched over. In order to reduce the amount of equipment and the cold losses, the condensation and freezing-out operations are run continuously in a shaped-object reservoir through which cooled shaped objects move in a countercurrent to the waste gas.
