An internal combustion engine for a motor vehicle includes an exhaust system through which exhaust gas can flow and in which a first exhaust gas aftertreatment element is disposed. An exhaust gas turbocharger has a turbine and the turbine has a turbine wheel which is disposed upstream of the first exhaust gas aftertreatment element. A bypass line bypasses the turbine wheel and via the bypass line at least part of the exhaust gas can bypass the turbine wheel. The bypass line also bypasses the first exhaust gas aftertreatment element. The bypass line is fluidically connected to the exhaust system at a branch point disposed upstream of the turbine wheel and upstream of the first exhaust gas aftertreatment element. The bypass line is fluidically connected to the exhaust system at a discharge point disposed downstream of the turbine wheel and downstream of the first exhaust gas aftertreatment element.

In an internal combustion engine comprising a turbocharger which includes a turbine which is located in an exhaust tract of the internal combustion engine and to which exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine is applied via an exhaust pipe system of the exhaust tract, the turbine comprises volute passages distributed along the circumference of the turbine wheel and the exhaust gas flows are combined and divided upstream of the turbine into at least two exhaust gas part-flows each of which part-flows is fed to one of the volute passages.

In an internal combustion engine for a motor vehicle, having a first cylinder bank and a second cylinder bank and an exhaust tract including a first exhaust manifold and a second exhaust manifold with a first exhaust gas duct and a second exhaust gas duct and a first exhaust gas turbocharger including a first turbine situated in the exhaust tract and a second exhaust gas turbocharger including a second turbine arranged in the exhaust tract, the first turbine and the second turbine are selectively drivable in alternation by at least a portion of the exhaust gas via a valve device that is switchable between at least three positions and is situated upstream from the first turbine and the second turbine so that, in a first position of the valve device, the engine is operated in a pulse supercharging mode; in a second position of the valve device, the engine is operated in a ram charging mode and in a third position of the valve device, the engine is operated in a sequential supercharging mode.

In a method for real time speech input of a destination address into a navigation system, the speech statements that are entered by a user are recognized by a speech recognition device and classified in accordance with their recognition probability. The speech statement with the greatest recognition probability is identified as the input speech statement, with at least one speech statement being an admissible speech command that activates the operating functions of the navigation system associated with this speech command. (All the admissible speech statements being stored in at least one database.) According to the invention, at least one operating function of the navigation system comprises an input dialogue. Following activation of that operating function, depending on the input dialogue, at least one lexicon is generated in real time from the admissible speech statements stored in at least one database, and the generated lexicon is loaded as vocabulary into the speech recognition device.
