A method for colouring hair, wherein the method comprises: (i) the formation of a first plurality of coated hair fibre portions, wherein the coating comprises a first composition, wherein the first composition comprises a first hair colouring agent, a hydrophobic phase, a hydrophilic phase, a surfactant, and a thickener capable of interacting with the hydrophobic phase and the hydrophilic phase; and subsequently (ii) styling the hair wherein the first plurality of coated hair fibre portions is contacted with a second plurality of hair fibre portions; wherein the method does not comprise the application of a solid barrier means in order to separate the first plurality of coated hair fibre portions from the second plurality of hair fibre portions, and wherein the first composition is substantially free of persulfate.

Method for colouring hair

A cosmetic composition comprising a thickening polymer having hydrophobic and hydrophilic portions, a non-ionic surfactant, a neutralizing agent, a non-ionic kosmotrope and water. Also, a hair colorant formulation obtained from mixing said composition and a hair dye. Also, the use of said formulation for coloring and/or sculpting hair.

Cosmetic composition comprising a thickening polymer having hydrophobic and hydrophilic portions

The object of the invention is a hair-treatment agent in the form of a two-phase gel, containing comminuted particles of a firm and shape-retaining gel based on a carrageenan-containing aqueous base in a fluid polyol matrix. The gel is a clear product with properties of a hair wax or hair cream and it can be dispensed, sprayed or foamed from a suitable container by means of a propellant.

Two-phase hair gel

The wax composition for styling human hair provides hold, strength and rigidity, includes at least one wax and/or waxy material, and has a density of less than or equal to 0.9 g/ml, after being foamed in a fluid or softened state with a gas, preferably air or a non-reactive gas, such as nitrogen, so that it includes a bubble and/or pore structure. In the method for styling human hair this wax composition is applied to the hair and the hair is shaped with the wax composition applied to it.

Hair wax product with reduced density

A hair wax product is made by a process, in which a solid wax composition is heated to melt or soften it and then foamed with a gas in a mixer that applies shear energy to it. The gas is preferably air or a non-reactive gas, such as nitrogen. The gas is introduced to the liquified or softened solid wax composition in a sufficient amount so that the density of the resulting hair wax product is less than or equal to 0.9 g/ml, preferably 0.6 to 0.8 g/ml. The hair wax product contains bubbles and/or pores having a size of from 0.0001 to 5 mm and has melting and softening properties such that rubbing it by hand is sufficient to remove a waxy portion from it and work the waxy portion into hair.

A method of reducing the flyaway effect occurring during treatment of hair with a cosmetic composition is disclosed. According to this method an effective amount of an electrically conductive polymer is added to the cosmetic composition prior to treatment of the hair. Preferably the cosmetic composition is a shampoo or hair care composition, which contains from 0.001 to 5% of the electrically conductive polymer.

Cosmetic compositions containing electrically conductive polymers

The solid, form-stable gel for hair treatment contains an aqueous or aqueous-alcoholic base; from 0.5 to less than 2 percent by weight of a carrageenan or a mixture of carrageenans and at least one carrageenan-amount-reducing additive selected from the group consisting of hair fixing polymers, amphiphilic associative thickeners, monoalcohols with 1 to 5 carbon atoms and polyalcohols with 2 to 5 carbon atoms. The carrageenan or mixture of carrageenans and the at least one additive are contained in the gel in respective amounts so that the gel is solid and form-stable, i.e. has a resistance of at least 0.15 N to a compressive force applied at 2000 and 65% relative humidity by means of an 8 mm diameter cylindrical piston that is depressed at a rate of 0.5 mm/s until a compression depth of 1 mm is reached after which the piston is removed at a rate of 0.5 mm/s.
