An operating unit () sets ventilation parameters of a control unit () of a ventilator () that includes a gas dispensing device () for ventilation gases. The operating unit includes a display unit and an ventilation parameters input element (). Two or more of the parameters are linked via a relation condition stored in a relation storage module (). A relation monitor () includes a deviation detector () detecting a transgression of the relation condition during parameter setting, and outputs warning information via a warning unit (). This avoids a need for an operator to note the sometimes complicated connections and dependencies expressed in the relations during the parameter setting. The warning may be sent before the new setting value is sent from the operating unit to the control unit. Operating safety is increased and a risk of setting errors is minimized.

Operating unit for a ventilator with a gas dispensing device for ventilation gases

A medical device is provided with an alarm organization. A process for alarm organization of a medical device is also provided. Based on pressure measured values and flow measured values and with a comparison criterion, it is determined whether an elevation of an airway pressure of an anesthesia device or of a ventilator is caused by a coughing event. A visual and/or acoustic output of a warning or alarm is adapted, indicating the elevated airway pressure P.

Method for setting the operating parameters of a ventilation system

A method for generating an alarm during the monitoring of a patient with the step of determining a minute volume (MVpat) of the patient, setting a minute volume lower limit (MVlow) and/or a minute volume upper limit (MVhigh), wherein the minute volume (MVpat) is cumulated by means of an increment function into a volume (Vdeficit_kum) when the measured value drops below the minute volume lower limit (MVlow) or exceeds the minute volume upper limit (MVhigh), and an alarm is triggered when the cumulated volume (Vdeficit_kum) exceeds a maximum allowable volume (Vdeficit_apn). Furthermore, the present invention pertains to a device for reducing clinically irrelevant alarms during the monitoring of a patient for carrying out the method according to the present invention.

Method for generating an alarm during the monitoring of a patient and device therefor

A respirator or anesthesia system for respirating a patient () includes a gas delivery device (); at least one gas line () for forming a breathing air line system, especially a breathing air circulation system; at least one EMG sensor for detecting the electromyographic muscle activity of the respiratory muscles of a patient () being respirated; and a control () for controlling and/or regulating the output of the gas delivery device () as a function of the detected muscle activity of the respiratory muscles. An adaptation of the part of respiration to the performance capacity of the respiratory muscles of the patient () being respirated is made possible without invasive measurement of the electromyographic activity of the respiratory muscles by the at least one EMG sensor being an sEMG sensor ().

A modular medical care system, housing a plurality of different modules providing different functions used in delivering healthcare to a patient, includes a plurality of different modules including: (a) a patient monitoring module for acquiring and processing signals derived from sensors suitable for attachment to a patient; and (b) a patient treatment module for delivering treatment to the patient. A processor processes signals derived from the plurality of different modules. A communication interface provides bidirectional communication between the processor and the plurality of different modules via a network.

The system includes a first control and display unit, at least another control and display unit and at least one therapy module, which is either a ventilation module or an infusion module. The control and display units and the therapy module or therapy modules are connected to one another via bidirectional communications connections. The control and display units have a settable first display area for alarm and status reports of the therapy module or therapy modules and a second area for the display and modification of therapy settings of the therapy module or therapy modules. Device and method for respirating a patient by means of high-frequency ventilation

A process and system are provided for clearing modes of operation of a medical engineering device, especially modes of operation on a respirator (), such as IMV (Intermittent Mandatory Ventilation, CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) or HFV (High-Frequency Ventilation). The clearing is performed with an external electronic, optical or magnetic storage medium, e.g., a chip card (), on which data that determine the available modes of operation and optionally the duration of their availability are present. The data on the chip card () are read by a writing and reading unit () of the respirator (). The data may be coded, the duration of availability of a mode of respiration may be controlled by keeping a time log () on the chip card, and the corresponding time periods are debited from the time log () each time a certain mode of operation is used.

Clearing modes of operation of medical engineering devices

A respirator with a tidal volume-measuring device () between a respiration bag () and a patient adapter () provides accurate metering of the tidal volume. The device includes a first pressure-measuring device () and a breathing gas interruptor () in series sequence between the patient adapter () and the tidal volume-measuring device (). A second pressure-measuring device () is provided between the tidal volume-measuring device () and the respiration bag ().
